4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottled Vintage 1999: Orange coloured. Unclear. Off white fluffy head. Sourness, earth and spice in the aroma. Very citric. Flavour of fruit, earth, tart, citrus, yeast and loads of sourness. This is my kind of gueuze. Is very dry and refreshing. Very complex. Ends on a delicious sour note, balanced by a light sweetness.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: APR 2, 2009 [Vintage 1999] Hazy amber with a large off white head. Typical sour barnyard aroma along with lacto, wood, leather, peaches and grapefruit. Barnyardy flavor with very sour lacto notes along with leather, wood barnyard and sour lemons. All sorts of things going on here. Freaking sour stuff. I simply love this!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Insane bottle share by Brad at RBSG. Pours orange. White head. Nose/taste of lemon rind, vinegar, very funky tart fruits, orange peel and bready wild yeasts. Funk is very sour and full of intense vinegar. Medium body.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
cloudy yellow pour. This was from my friend Ryans sourfest on Halloween. Cheesy aroma is evident immediately with some sour fruit and barnyard aromas too. Flavor is sour as hell. Lemony, acidic, vinegar, earthy tones, dry. Sour. wow.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Bottle #6772, 1999 Vintage... This beer rocks!... Murky amber ale. The aroma is an acetic mega-swirl of biting acidity, honey, caramel, aged cheddar, fallen ash or oak, a forty-year-old-yellow-paged book and old baseball glove. In a word; dank! Most intense flavor I’ve ever encountered. Mild sweetness up front with a note of apple. Involuntary eye-squinting sourness on the backside. Nothing balanced about it... no residual sweetness to buffer the onslaught of pungency. Beautiful lemon/orange zing. Full-bodied with a 1%-milk mouthfeel. Finishes delicately sweet with a well-rounded, refined tartness. Oh, so very good. Thanks to boboski for making it possible for me to finally try this beer!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ Stephen’s whale slaying. Thanks to Eric for sharing! Pours a murky orange appearance with no head. Very dusty, tannic, cheesy, herbal, lemon, and orange aroma. Pretty acidic. Somewhat sweet. Low bitterness. Dusty, sweet oak, vanilla, light coconut, and somewhat acetic. This is good but was maybe better a few years back. Big thanks for sharing, Eric!

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
750ml bottle shared courtesy of Axilla (thanks!). 1999 vintage. Bottle # 06660. Poured a dark and cloudy golden color with a small sized white head. Aromas of caramel, brett, musty, leather, citrus, and wood. Tastes of green apples, citrus, wood, and sour lemons. Nice pucker factor. You have to love a beer that when you lick your lips a minute later, it still makes you pucker! This one was fantastic. Everything I would want in a Gueuze!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 8, 2011 750mL 1988 ed courtesy of ygtbsm94. Unreal. This poured a cloudy grapefruit juice with a thin, white head and no lace. Aroma is not too funky but is more horsey, barnyard, and cheesy with a big kick of cider vinegar, lemon tart, lemon peel. Taste is a bit more acedic than other geuzes, which I like, and goes so insanely sour that is becomes spicy on the palate going from lemon peel and bright citrus/grapefruit rind to cloves, nutmeg, and chilies. Really outstanding. 6/8/2010 8/4/9/4/17=4.2
750mL 1999 ed courtesy of ygtbsm94 at RBSG Philly 2011. The pour is a flat glowing deep orange. Nose is not really doing it for me: heavy acetic with mild acetone and paint thinner. Lots of impending spicy acetic acid. Taste is mouth watering sour, the opposite of a Cantillon geuze, with puckering lemon warhead acidity and lacerative acetic spice approaching Hanssen’s Geuze. Not my thing, but glad I was able to try it. 6/3/2011 6/4/8/4/14=3.6

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle (vintage 1999, purchased at Streekprodukten, Halle, 06/06): Orange to amber coloured, small foamy layer; strong sourish fruity nose (citrousy, cidery) with a bigger touch of horseblanket and barrique; strong sourish (woody), dry flavour; finishes dry, sour, citrousy with a tart tinge of brettanomyces....
The dry acidity knocks You really down.......
