(Bottle) Hazy pale golden with thin white head. Distinctive, unusual and quite appealing aroma. The aroma is primarily tart with lemony citrus and hints of vinegar, there are subtle notes of bread, funk, spice and maybe exotic fruits. Wonderful palate, soft and mouth-filling. The taste is also rather unusual with elements of different styles. The foretaste has some candy sweetness well balanced with a fruity tang. This gives way to peppery spice, and perhaps a hint f alcohol bite, over a bready maltiness. The peppery spice develops into an impressive rich bitter finish. The mid taste is perhaps a little flat between the more intense foretaste and finish. An impressive and distinctive beer that I would happily drink again.

Pale gold pour, white head. Flavors of wheat, very light hops, floral and tart. Not really sour...interesting beer to say the least.

Idiosynkrasie (3578) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUN 21, 2013
330ml bottle. Clear golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally to moderately lacing, white head. Floral hop aroma, hints of exotic fruit, lychee, perfume, somehow "East-Asian" flavours. Taste is minimally to moderately sweet pale malty, floral hoppy overtones, fruity hints of lychee, strawberry, a basical strawy note constantly moves along. Not without attractivity, a crossover with Saison-character, but in the end too sweet and perfumed.

Sampled during VCBW 2013 at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC pours a golden color with a white head that settles to leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by yeast with some grains, grass and light fruits. Taste is grassy bitterness with a fruity and light malty sweetness and a yeasty dry finish. A typical beer for the style.

330 ml bottle. L714. Bottled 13/11/12. BB 31/05/14. (Alko) Helsinki, Finland.
Clear golden colour with a red hue and small white head. The aroma is deliciously yeasty, floral and citrusy hoppy, caramel sweet and mildly spicy. The flavour is perfumy and floral hops, yeast, some spices and some sweetish malt. The aroma is was very promising but the flavour wasn’t delivering the greatness. Unfortunately.

Bottle… Mostly clear golden ale with a small, wispy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is spicy, grainy and fruity – pear. Medium-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and lively carbonation. The flavor is sweet, fruity and spicy. Finishes medium-sweet with lingering spiciness.

Man, you know the beer revolution is gathering pace when the French swap tradition for innovation. This is a cross between a biere de garde and an IPA, according to the description, which doesn’t necessarily guide the reader too far. Looks pretty good: lager gold with a thick, lacing head. Ripe aroma of hard lemon candies, Parma Violets and wheatsheaf. Light, lemon flavour with a nice underlying biere de garde yeastiness and some clove and sour fruits in the finish. Uncomplicated, quenching, well made and really quite lovely. More biere de garde than IPA, in my opinion. Very more-ish for the strength. (33cl bottle from Steve’s Cool Booze, Kingsford. BB30/6/14)
