2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Countbeer (1686) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JAN 19, 2012
Bottle:
A vast centred and airy around creamy beige head on top of a deep dark ruby with orange tints colored beer.
Smell lots of stingy malts, some barleys and hay, some hints of dark fruits and the slightest hint of liquorice. The stingy sharp malts are more or less on the dominating side.
The taste is a bit weak and watery with a bit of an unbalanced mix of dark fruits; some light hints of prunes and raisin, coal/ash, nasty malts, some (elder) hops, sharper grains and herbs. Low sweetness and low to medium bitterness.
Aftertaste is an ashy herby (nasty) malty mix. Not so good.
Medium carbo, light tingly mouthfeel, medium body and a light creamy/watery texture.
Had expected more of this beer, guess due to it’s black label. That thought already seem to disappear with the pour and when the smell came through. But the taste, mostly aftertaste, is not that good. Kind of a pity!
