Bottle@Home. Loads of laurel in the aroma. Less in the flavour luckily as I don’t like laurel much. Flavour is odd. All kinds of flavours there, sulphur, laurel, chocolate, some coffee. But it’s all mixed, shaken, no balance.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2011 Bottle at home. Dark brown, almost black. Small head. Fruity -sweet aroma, somthing nice in it. Dark fruits, raisins, bread, light roastiness. Roasted taste, some fruits, a bit to watery, mostly only roastiness-water. Almost like some roasted-soda taste. To much gas. Not my thing completely. Retaste: Adding some more points, should get a boost, but not bad.

Pours a very dark black red color with a nice beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate with spices. Flavors of roasted to slightly burnt malts, a bit smokey, black coffee and spices. Good carbonation, good light bitter, a bit creamy, nice long flavors. Reminds me of some stouts. Very nice.

On tap at the brewery. Almost opaque black, medium beige head, nice lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee and caramel. Flavor starts with sweet malt then progresses to a dark roasty bitter edge, with a bit of dark fruit in the background. Light body. Nice brew.

Bottle. Pours very deep ruby with a generous beige collar. Unexpected dusty carbon aroma with a blackberry and prune juiciness exactly like a certain kind of (BC) English stout. Doesn’t disappoint in the mouth, where a mellow ashiness, chocolate and some mouldering leaves dominate. I’ve never had a Belgian beer anything like this before. Impressive.

Bottle, 6.3%. OK aroma of hard roasted malts. Very dark brown colour, red shine, seems clear. Stable tan head. The flavour is mildly roasted, dark malts, hint of fresh-ground coffee. A little paper in the finish.

33cl bottle. pours dark brown, beige head. aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and lightly yeasty. taste, plenty of good roastiness here, light in body, some nice coffee and malts. Light sparkly mouthfeel, thin and light with hints of dark fruits and yeasty. Reminded more of a stout than an old ale. Overall mouthfeel is just superb, highly drinkable.
