(Bottled, 6.8% ABV, no BBE, 1/3 of the bottle left after traveling in a cardboard box from Brussels) Muddy brown, not much head (CO2 gone already). Very pleasant and strong aroma with lots of spicy anise and sweetish-syrupy maltiness. Flavor is quite the same with syrupy malt, lots of dried fruit, anise and other spices. Almost full body, not much CO2 left, no alcohol present. Quite sweet, but pleasant and strangely also balanced brew, that would suit the cold Xmas time pretty well. 7237

Sampled at brewery. Ruddy chestnut color, off-white head. Fairly toasty-malt nose, bits of caramel and toffee, and a touch of roast coffee. Real malt backbone there, not giving in to a fruity Belgian yeast. Flavor ducks excessive sweetness but stays malty, like chewing on the husk of Crystal. Gets a touch cidery with a little bready sourness, which is character most welcome. Good flavor, and very drinkable. Really a damned nice brown ale.

Bottle, bought @ EG.
Pours deep chestnut red with a small, creamy, off-white film head. Nice and fresh aroma. Lots of plums, raisins and good chocolate and mild roasted notes. A hint of liqourice. Highish carbonation, light mouthfeel, good dryness. Flavour has good herbal liqourice mixed in with chocolate, esters, plums and raisins. Long, lingering, light grainy maltiness and good bitterness in the finish. Nice.
