Cloudy orange. Smells slightly fruity, hoppy. Different. A little lighter than other Bell's beers. Slightly bitter but not that long of a finish. Sweet. Not bad at all for a Bell's product.

Bottle. Pretty good. A little sweet, some hops flavor, but nothing outstanding.

Typical amber ale---well, typically good. Nothing really bad about it, but nothing stands out as better than the rest out there. Good balance of malt and hops, no bitterness, smooth finish, cloudy appearance makes it somewhat different....

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sweet aroma with a hint of marshmallow. Thick, cloudy, copper appearance with tiny bubbles. Fluffy head that dissipates and leaves no acing. Rich flavor with a unique sweetness that is not too cloying. Balanced nicely with a hop spice. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Had this at the Horn Bar on Mackinac Island while on a family trip. It had a long lasting head in the glass, had a nice amber color, with just the right amount of carbonation, and a sweet malt taste with grassy hops. A good drinker during a session.

dark golden colour with a thin head. The nose is quite strong and the alcohol is quite present. Malty and kind of wheaty with an alcohol aftertaste. Not bad overall

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2010 Cloudy golden with a thin layer of head. Fruity nose--berries with a light touch of banana. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation. Nicely hoppy with a good malt backbone. A delicious drinkin’ ale.

Very cloudy for an Amber Ale. Hoppy too. The finish is perhaps more bitter than I am used to for this style, hence the deduction for palate and overall. Thanks Psychprof for this one!

Sometimes good, sometimes not. When it's good the malt profile is awesome. Lots of rich complexity that has a solid backbone well into the finish. Easily one of the best. When it's bad, however, there is a persistent sourness that wrecks the beer. Serving it very cold alleviates the problem a little. If I could be assured of getting the "good" version each time I made a purchase then I would always have this in my fridge. Instead, the schizophrenic quality control issue relegates this brew to a dissappointed glance each time I see it on the shelf. When this beer is good I would rate it close to a 4.
