A nice amber yet it still has a bit of bite I would drink it regularly if it was the only bells I could get.

A vaporous orange on the pour with a bubbly and light tan head that is portly in size with a thin curtain of lace. Nose is butterscotch sweet, fresh and quite clean to the senses, the start quite sweet, nice malt profile and the top a light to medium feel. Finish is brisk in its acidity, hops mellow and pleasant with the aftertaste desert dry and long lasting, quite nice Amber Ale, from a “World Class Brewery”.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thick amber color with yeast that floats about like snow in a snow globe. Heavy malt aroma, much different than the musty cheese smell that was present on my first try. The flavor is suprisingly similar to Larry's brown ale. Nice flavorful finish. I would love to try this on tap

Lots of grain on the nose. A little light in color for an amber ale. The palate is spot on medium with a wonderful malty tecture. The hops come out more as the beer warms. The beer finishes fruity. A good session beer.

Bottle: I'm really not a big fan of Ambers, but does Bell's make anything that is not just terrific? Malty sweet nose. Pale amber color and just full of floaties. Thick for the style. Nice caramel flavor. Beautiful!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Orange/Bronze colour with a very thin and short-lived tan head. Pale, malty, slightly hoppy and slightly sweet aroma. Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour more than makes up for the lack of aroma. Slight astringinent flavour with a ever-present hoppiness and even the smallest of sweetnesses. Aftertaste definately bittered from the malt and suffers from the Astringent characteristics, but is not bad at all. Overall, this is fairly good for an amber, worth a try if you can find it. I was lucky enough to get this twelve ounce bottle in a local trade with Jah_noth, thanks again Dan!

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2005 2003 Tap.
Hazy orange, with some darker amber/brown tinges. Moderate amount of white head. Smells slightly fruity and hoppy. . .
Opens up with a big punch of. . .cascade hops? If not cascades, it’s quite similar. Hmm, citrus on an amber ale? This is interesting. Dries out and texture becomes papery and astringent (mildly). Body is medium to light at best. Malt is not strong, and body tastes soapy. Finishes with some grainy malt texture. Beer is completely lacking of any sweetness. Way to dry and the medium-light body does not ameliorate this. Thought they had given me a bells pale ale after the first sip. 2004 bottle. Tastes like a completely different beer. Quite good, tastes like belgian yeast, light caramel flavor and almost spicey hops as well. Very nice spritzy mouthfeel dosent get boring.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Murky orange with big floaties (and I poured pretty carefully) with a small white head. Some nutty maltiness, but mostly bitter citrus hop flavors. I wouldn't have identified this as an amber.

Cloudy orange. Smells slightly fruity, hoppy. Different. A little lighter than other Bell's beers. Slightly bitter but not that long of a finish. Sweet. Not bad at all for a Bell's product.
