3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 obxdude10 (1811) - Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 20, 2008
This is definitely one of the better amber ales out there. Most are bland, watery and undrinkable. This was very enjoyable. It started with a soft, fluffy cream-colored head. The aroma was very rich and full of caramel malt with a slight note of vanilla and hops. The head left some very nice lacing all the way down around the glass. The body was very smooth and drinkable. The flavors containted hints of caramel, grass, earth and barley with a nice touch of flowery hops. The finish was one of the best parts of this beer, as it contained quite a bit of bitterness and was a bit on the dry and spicy side. But it also had a nice malty backbone for that extra punch of enjoyment. This beer is definitely one of the best amber’s, as it’s full-bodied and full-flavored.

Great Brewery, but obviously not their top of the line beer. This is a great beer to introduce to a Bud drinker as a real beer. It would have more mass appeal for the novice, and that is why I think they used this as the house beer for the Grand Hotel. (Big Porch Ale). This is a very safe choice to serve to the inexperienced.

Caramel malt aroma, hazy copper color with an off white head. Rich but smooth malty taste. A good amber ale.

Bottle, named Big Porch Ale 2008. Pours a hazy amber-brown with a white head that fades quickly into a ring. Aroma of sweet malt, a hint of pine and sweet dark fruits. Taste is sharp and malty, then picks up sweet, ripe fruits notes and woodsy pine. Lingering sharp malt and pine flavors. Very nice amber ale.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Tessic (611) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 29, 2008
This ale poured a dark orange colour with a quickly dissipating, off white head. To the nose there are scents of citrus, malt sugar, caramel and yeast. First taste was very smooth with flavours of caramel and malt. Finish is slightly hoppy and smooth. Palate is malty and very good.

12 oz bottle pours an orange amber with a beige head. Malty nose with a touch of herbal spice. The toffee and toasted malts are balanced well with a herbal spice that is bitterand tasty. Really drinkable and tasty, especially for an amber.

12 oz bottle from tytoanderso, Thanks Tyler. Pours a rather hazy orange amber with a huge frothy off white head that left tons and tons of lace on my Duvel tulip. Aroma was very malty with slight caramel/toffee sweetness and lots of dry grain and cereal. Flavor was similar with some sweet toffee, dry toast and even a hint of tea. Not the most interesting or challenging beer but highly drinkable. Probably one of the best amber ales I have tried and this would be a great beer to give to someone to get them interested in craft beer as it has enough flavor/aroma without it being too much for a beginner.

12oz. from the bottle. Flavor is malty, sweet, and somewhat watery. There is a small hop presence in the finish. Good session brew.
