Draft. Pours a dark amber with white head. Not much in the way of aroma, slightly malty. Taste of caramel malts, some sweetness. Nothing too exciting.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Decent amber, more hoppy than most, almost tastes like a PA or IPA, but goes down smooth, a bit of an aftertaste that lingers, but all in all a good beer. Has a fruity aspect to it as well. Doesnt really taste like an amber.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance: Pours a really nice, medium amber color. Forms a decent head that goes away pretty quickly. Lacing is sparse, and the beer appears to be unfiltered. Pretty nice.
Smell: Absolutely STRANGE. It smells dirty. Musky. Like a wet trunk. It isnít very pleasant at all. To be honest, I figured this was a dud based on the smell alone. Really not a nice smelling beer to my nose.
Taste/Feel: Thankfully, what matters most, is probably the best part about the beer... the taste. It has a pretty mild carbonation with a whole lot of malt. Some of that muskiness from the smell I get in the taste, but itís barely there, and goes away quickly when it does show up, which is a very good thing. Thereís a little bit of spice there too, but I just get a lot of malt, and I dig it. There are traces of alcohol in there too. The feel isnít bad at all... itís great for an amber, with a fairly low carbonation.
Overall, I thought right off the bat Iíd be let down as soon as I caught a whiff. I was happy to see that the taste isnít much like the aroma at all. I actually enjoyed this beer the more I drank it, and I feel Iíd just enjoy it more if I tried it again. A very good amber if you can get passed the smell.

Brief write-up. No, this one isnít very interesting, but itís drinkable and goes with lunch/dinner quite well. I could have used more hoppiness, though. Fat Tire fans will love it.

Beautiful head, thick taste, grainy finish. Very agreeable for an amber ale. Not bad..

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bright amber in color with an average head, the aroma is malty with a little floral kick. The flavor is slightly hoppy and then very rich, buttery, malty and smooth. Very drinkable.

3.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Small white head that fades pretty quickly. Deep amber color. Itís a beautiful looking beer. Nose has the slightest hint of fruit maybe some citrus. Nothing too exciting there. Taste is of malted grain and hay. With the slightest hint of sweet fruit. Very nice malt flavor behind a robust hoppy presence. Overall a very nice beer that looks as good as it tastes. And it looks pretty great!

Had it from the bottle. Poured a very nice amber orangeish color with a small head that disappeared quickly. Scent is a bit fruity. It also tastes a bit fruity and hoppy.

Bottle of the "big porch" version at the grand hotel on mackinac. Other than the touristy label, a basic amber.
