UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Poured from a bottle into a pint glass at Dema (Westin) in Detroit, Mich. Color was copper. Good-looking bubbly lacing. Film stayed on the sides throughout.
Smelled of caramel malts, but I had to work to find it.
Caramel malts led the way on the initial taste, followed surprisingly by a slight bitter finish. Very smooth.
Medium body. Lively carbonation. The smoothness just keeps sticking out.
One of the best ambers I’ve ever had (at least rated). Another great beer by Bell’s.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 fiercepanda (258) - Missouri, USA - SEP 9, 2011
A clear red tinted brown beer with a very small white head. The aroma is a nice nutty malt and caramel. The flavor is light and sweet malt, a little thin but still pleasant. The body is likewise thin, but a very drinkable beer.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 drdisque (258) - Illinois, USA - SEP 5, 2011
Medium amber color. Very nice mixture of hops, and just enough darker malt to make it an interesting choice. Perhaps a little too "safe" in its character to be truly outstanding.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 neuromatt (610) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 2, 2011
12 oz bottle from the brewery, served in a handled mug. Pours clear amber with a small white head. The head fades slowly and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are aromas of caramel, grain, toasted malts, and hints of fruit and pine. The flavour is balanced between moderately sweet caramel malts and earthy, piney hops. The finish is moderate in length, with toasted grain. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth, watery texture and soft carbonation. Overall, a decent, well-balanced amber with grainy notes. Simple, but effective. 2011-08-17
