2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 9, 2008
Cloudy orangey-amber. Woody, vaguely citrusy hops mix with earthy, slightly caramelly malts. Dull character. No bright notes of any kind, just vague malts (maybe caramel) and hops (low bitterness) that merely exist, failing to excite the palate.

Sometimes good, sometimes not. When it's good the malt profile is awesome. Lots of rich complexity that has a solid backbone well into the finish. Easily one of the best. When it's bad, however, there is a persistent sourness that wrecks the beer. Serving it very cold alleviates the problem a little. If I could be assured of getting the "good" version each time I made a purchase then I would always have this in my fridge. Instead, the schizophrenic quality control issue relegates this brew to a dissappointed glance each time I see it on the shelf. When this beer is good I would rate it close to a 4.

Cloudy orange brew. Smell is slight caramel with earthy hops. The flavor was unimpressive. A little toasted and slight hoppy flavor. Not much sticks out to make me want more.

I found this to be too sour and unbalanced. Almost thinking that maybe my 6 pack was stale and will rerate another time

Not suprisingly, amber in color - with a compact head. Aromas of biscuit and cracker malts. Dissapointing. Tastes watery on the palate; lacking in a fim malt backbone and little discernible hops. See why some say its a great session beer; there’s little hear to wear out the palate.

Bottle form Cavie. Murky amber pour with a foamy white head. Aroma is nuts, caramel, and a little sweet. Flavor is almost puckering, a little sour, some fruitiness, thin, and caramel.

slightly sweet flavor, pale malts; not bad but would not be first choice when seeking out an amber style ale.

I must have got an old bottle. Cloudy... taste... bitter nasty. Gross. Sorry guys this is just not a winner at... all. Good head but to much sediment. Smell is cheap beer malty.
