2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Serve with a sausage in the glass (???) Poured a dark amber with little head. Aroma was very malty, almost like a barley wine. Flavor was very disappointing. Light hint of sweetness and just a chasing bit of hops. Not much else. Too watery and more carbonation than needed. Decent beer for the style which isn’t my thing to begin with.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Amber color....duh. Balanced brew, but a bit blah. The flavor is sweet with a hint of hops. Aroma is a little spicy. Medium body. Worth a drink, but I wish I’d bought one bottle instead of six.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle labeled Big Porch Ale 2008. Okay... so I know this isn’t going to be exactly... uh fresh ha. Pours a slightly hazed golden hued amber with a medium frothy light tan head. Aroma is quite malty with some faded citrus hops. Flavor is rich caramel with a little twang, probably from the munich, fairly grassy, some citrus hops mixed in oddly, a bit fruity. I don’t remember Kalamazoo Amber tasting like this. Medium bodied with big soda bubble carbonation.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
THIS BEER WAS HIGHLY RECOMENDED TO ME BY A FRIEND AND TO BE HONEST I WASN’T EXPECTING IT TO BE GREAT. AND IT ISNT. THE AROMA IS NOT VERY PLEASANT SMELLS LIKE A TYPICALY MASPRODUCED BEER. THE HEAD IS NONEXISTENT AND THE CARBONATION LINGERS IN THE GLASS LEAVING WHAT LOOKS LIKE LITTLE FLOATIES, I DONT TASTE ANY FRUITS OR ANYTHING THESE OTHER RATERS HAVE, I JUST TASTE MILD HOPS SMOTHERED IN MALT WITH A VERY SLIGHT SWEETNESS. THIS BEER IS FAR FROM GREAT BUT DOES HAVE A GOOD YET NOT OVERWELMING FLAVOR THAT MAKES IT ENJOYABLE

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at redlight redlight. pours a bright amber. not much going on in the nose. i mean, it is literally hard to smell. the flavor is not much bigger. bitter citrus hops come through for sure, but there is enough malt to make it extremely if not overly balanced and the sweetness comes through as much as the bitterness. Perhaps my rating is too low because i in no way dislike this beer. it is a crisp and not bad session beer. however, it is not complex and ultimately easily forgettable.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Batch 9468; Sampled April 2010
An aggressive pour into my 25cl tulip glass produces a three-finger thick, lightly tanned head. The beer is a reddish, amber hue that shows a brilliantly clear, amber, with flashes of gold color when held up to the light. Hmm, interesting the beer smells of butterscotch… and more butterscotch; while this note is not loud, it over-powers most of the other notes in the aroma. Some biscuit-like malt character is just perceptible at times.
Lightly sweet, with a soft fruitiness to it up front, but the beer finishes with an out-of-place light tartness that I wouldn’t guess was intended. A touch of herbal hops towards the middle and finish lead to a light, but firm bitterness. The fruitiness found here is quite possibly accentuated by the light hop character. The butterscotch diacetyl note from the aroma is much reduced in the flavor (which is often the case), but still adds some buttery notes to the middle and finish of this beer. This has a medium-light body to it that would make for being quite quaffable on a day other than the heat of summer. The tartness in the finish combines with the herbal hop character and gets a touch harsh at times.
I’ll definitely have to get another bottle of this as this is almost definitely heading down the road to an infection; this is not actually horrible tasting though and is even somewhat enjoyable in its own right. Hopefully Bells is able to clean up this infection as I really like a lot of their beers.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A disapointing brew. Not much caramel/malliard malt flavor, an unexiting hop profile, and lots of minerality.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Murky orange amber pour wtih fair tan head. Caramel and apple nose, but not caramelapple. Flavor is a little sweet caramel but well balanced out with a lightly fruity hop character. Carbonation is a bit on the moderately high side to the point that there lies a little bit of a carbonic bite. Meh.

A good rendition of this style...nicely slightly sweet, fruity, and malty, but I don’t care much for Ambers. Oh, well, if you must drink an Amber then drink this.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Coppery colored pour. A couple off-white bubbles try to form a head, but fail. No lacing. Roasted malt aroma. A little metallic note. Taste is the same with a bigger metallic presence. Okay.
