On tap at Crooked Stave @ The Source. Black appearance with a small brown head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, caramel and light oak. Similar flavor, rich, complex and well rounded with a touch of booze at the finish. An excellent, full bodied sipper overall.

Poured a jet black color with a tan head. Aroma was of earthy hops, deep char , chocolate, smoke, barrel. Flavor similar, keeps the abrasive Hoppy smokiness of expedition, but is mellowed out a little by the barrel. Awesome.

Black with a small dense brown head. Aroma is malty with toffee, dark chocolate, caramel, coffee, bourbon, oak and hints of vanilla. Taste is rich sweetness, light bitterness. Finish is sweet malty, caramel, bourbon, vanilla, bitter dark chocolate, coffee and warming alcohol. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation.
Amazing, weird that this beer lasted the whole session...

Hand bottled plastic bottle brought directly from CBC to my hotel room sick bed. Many thanks to rlgk for getting me this gem! Pours thick oily black with a small creamy mocha head that leaves some sparse lacing on the glass while dissiapting. Smell is heavy malty with roasted malts, caramel, toffee, burnt cookies, vanilla fudge, charred wood, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, moist soil, dried pine needles and bourbon alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter and heavy malty. Mouthfeel is thick, oily, round, slightly roasted astringent, slightly boozy and full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, dried pine needles, minerals, dried cherries and bourbon alcohol. Big well expected barrel treatment on an amazing base beer. Hard to improve something perfect though and while this version isnät a ruined expedition in any way it’s amazing but not quite as amazing as the base.
