COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A commemorative brew celebrating Kalamazoo Brewing Company's 4000th batch. Considered to be a "double-mild" in style, Batch 4000 uses Sterling hops from a small farm in the Willamette Valley, and debuts an exclusive barley-malt, by Breiss Malting. It shows off some characteristics from the traditional English Mild, while doubling up the flavor profile and alcohol content. Brewed in February of 2000, this is beer is a one-time only brew.

RateBeer Summer 2003: Cloudy deep orange color, malty/bready aroma with some earthy hops. Ends dry. This one-off brew has held up well over the last 3.5 years.

Dark amber w/ fine head. Strong malty aroma. Medium-full bodied. Subtle but complex flavour of toffee, toast, grain, earth, and hops.

A nice amber color with a faint off-white head. The aroma comes together to produce an interesting honey wheat bread character. The malt is quite pleasant, producing sweet toffee, toasted grain, light chocolate, and perhaps some nut. The finish has a nice English mild hop presence that makes it's way into the mix and thus being neiher overwhelming nor missed. Many thanks to hey_kevin for allowing me to taste something I had given up on.

Amber color. Don’t get scared off by all the ’stuff’ floating in it. This beer is a knockout!!! Crisp, smooth flavor and not extremely powerful in terms of taste. Actually kind of a sweet flavor. Sucks the moisture out of your mouth just like Canada Dry Ginger Ale.

WHOA! Bottle cap still expolodes of bottle releasing aromas of grapey malts.Pours a sparkling amber beer with a huge head that came up to the top of the snifter. Aromas of a fine old ale almost. This is the best aged ale I have had.It is bursting with flavor. The front is mellow, earthy, grainy. IT is followed by a showcase of juicy,estery,toffee-like malt flavors.I could swear there is some pale chocolate malt in there. Incredible. Still some subtle bitterness in there but not much and it doesn’t really matter.Way above expectations.Hey Kevin. Thanks so much for this gem.

Interesting beer. Deep amber with a quickly dissapating head. Strong malty flavor with quite a bit of alcohol in the nose. This beer has exhibits some old ale characteristics. Slightly odd hop aroma and flavor, but the hop bitterness is good. This beer has dried out quite a bit from when I purchased is 2 years ago, when it had a cloying finish. So there is hope for the Batch 5000, yet. I have had a couple but not rated yet because think it is still green and will hopefully dry out a little. Anyways the batch 4000 is a pleasant treat. If anyone is interested, I do have a couple bottles laying around...
