Sweet aroma with some oxidization apparent in the aroma. Light amber like colour with no head. Amazingly good for a beer so old. Lots of carbonation surprisingly. Very sweet with some chocolate and fruit. I wish there was more of this around!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured a cloudy brown color with not much of a head. Aroma was pretty mellowed out but this was still a pretty solid beer that I enjoyed.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dirty yellow orange with no real head to speak of. Aroma is of caramel, tea and oranges. Flavor is a bit weak of mango and citrus, and a bit buttery and sugary. Palate is a little sticky. Considering the age, this beer has held up pretty well. It would have been nice to try it fairly fresh for comparison.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours medium orange with a thin head. Aroma is those orange and black cheap halloween candies (yet it works fairly well), caramel. Flavor is sweet malts bordering on sticky sweet, those holloween candies, slight oxidied caramel/cardboard. Nice rich sipper.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Huge thanks to Walleye who traded me this. A generous and lopsided trade for sure. Poured a light caramel color with a nice carbonation hiss upon opening. Aroma was rich caramel and wheat. Taste was similar, with more wheat characteristics coming through. Not sure what this tasted like originally, but shows little oxidation and still has excellent carbonation. Little bit watered down at this point, but nothing offensive here, and still quite enjoyable. Glad I could try 4k and 9k together.

MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering. Thanks to tytoanderson and hellomynameis for each sharing a bottle. Very sweet nose with hints of ripe fruit and caramel and toffee. Decent carbonation to accent the very nice ripe fruit and caramel with a hint of milk chocolate. This held up much better than I thought.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Big thanks to Jason for sharing this one. Aroma of complex and chewy caramel malt, dried dark fruits, and some fruityness. There was some oxidation that reminded me of smoke. Ruby-orange in color with a super thin head. Chocolate and caramel, fruity malts and again, Iím picking up oxidation in the form of smoke/cardboard. The cardboard isnít strong and doesnít bother me much. Medium body, fairly creamy and fairly sweet.

WHOA! Bottle cap still expolodes of bottle releasing aromas of grapey malts.Pours a sparkling amber beer with a huge head that came up to the top of the snifter. Aromas of a fine old ale almost. This is the best aged ale I have had.It is bursting with flavor. The front is mellow, earthy, grainy. IT is followed by a showcase of juicy,estery,toffee-like malt flavors.I could swear there is some pale chocolate malt in there. Incredible. Still some subtle bitterness in there but not much and it doesnít really matter.Way above expectations.Hey Kevin. Thanks so much for this gem.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Iíve had this a few times before, but it took a vist from hotstuff and thedm to get me to rate it. Hazy reddish/orange body witha thin off white head. Aroma was yeasty, malty and darky fruity. The taste had swee fruits and some alcohol. There was also a bit of lingering bitterness. Not too bad after 6 years or so.
