COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A commemorative brew celebrating Kalamazoo Brewing Company’s 4000th batch. Considered to be a "double-mild" in style, Batch 4000 uses Sterling hops from a small farm in the Willamette Valley, and debuts an exclusive barley-malt, by Breiss Malting. It shows off some characteristics from the traditional English Mild, while doubling up the flavor profile and alcohol content. Brewed in February of 2000, this is beer is a one-time only brew.

Re-brewed for Bells 30th Anniversary in 2015

Pours a Dark chestnut brown color with golden yellowish brown hues and a thin yellowish beige head that quickly dissipates into a thin lasting ring. Minimal lacing. Leathery malt aroma with hints of caramel, toffee, alcohol and dark fruit. Soft carbonation with slight oxizidation. With sligt alcohol sweetness/heat, toffee, caramel and dark fruit. This beer has aged nicely with the alcohol being well masked and overall has really mellowed out.

Bottle with thanks to coyotehunter. Pours a hazy orange with little head but lots of bubble clinging to the glass. Smells a little of oranges and malt with no oxidation. Flavor has a bit of butter and papaya. This is fairly sweet and a little sticky. Seems to have lost a bit of its flavor but show little other signs of age.

Bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank> ClarkVV, thanks Clark. Dark copper with some orange in colour, lasting white head, some lace. The aroma was of dark fruits, some caramel, earthy malts, some butterscotch and brown sugar. The flavour is malty, some gingerbread, rye, caramel, molasses, figs and plums. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes lingering, quite smooth. Still holding up very well after all these years.

12oz bottle shared at columbus tasting 7 - Pours amber with a short offwhite head. Aromas of caramel, with remnants of what must have at one point been decent hops because I was amazed that they were still there. I got some definite citrus in the aroma. Flavor is caramel, grapefruit and a good amount of spice at the finish. Medium body with slight carbonation. My guess is this one has seen better days but it is still quite drinkable.

bottle. murky brown-orange body with a small ring of white head. rich yeast and malt aroma - cheese notes, caramel, and maple. full body that is mostly on the sweet side. there are some toffee flavours, caramel, yeast, with a faint alcohol presence towards the end. clean yeasty finish. very good considering it’s age. thanks Jeff.
