3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very sweet candy, with great malt. . . Sugar, sour and then some spice. . . This one has the usual Bell's malt, but taken quite a bit further, with some great complexity that goes into an subtle hop phase, thanks so much Hey_Kevin for treating us to a gem that can't be found any more. . .

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle from Goldtwins and hellomynameis sampled at the MN RB Winter shindig. Time has tempered this beast for sure. Oxidation is setting in some. Plenty of sweet malt and candy on the nose. Overripe dark fruit. Pours bright clear copper. Almost still. Flavor is very malt forward with some cinnamon and chocolate. Medium bodied. Slightly syrupy and thick.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big thanks to radiomgb for busting out this rarity from the past. Brownish amber color, thin ring of tan bubbles. Pleasant malty aroma, sweet, light alcohol, fruity and caramelly. More barley wine characteristics in the flavor, malty, some fig, a touch of fruit and some caramel. It it was hoppy at one time, they sure have left the building. Medium to full bodied, surprisingly has not suffered from almost 6 years in the cellar, even only being 7.5%. Very nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
A nice amber color with a faint off-white head. The aroma comes together to produce an interesting honey wheat bread character. The malt is quite pleasant, producing sweet toffee, toasted grain, light chocolate, and perhaps some nut. The finish has a nice English mild hop presence that makes it's way into the mix and thus being neiher overwhelming nor missed. Many thanks to hey_kevin for allowing me to taste something I had given up on.

Thanx to flemdawg for sharing. This brew reminded me more of a barley wine than an american strong ale.Dark fruits and nuts with a small alcohol tinge, very good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rusted ruby. Nice soapy off-white head. Fades to nothing.
Alcoholified sweet brownies. Dry port.
Soda-like malt, dry edges. Brownies. Oxidation, but okay in here.
You can tell its died down perhaps, but it has a nice blend of flavors and has certainly held up exceptionally well over the last many (8?) years...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From a 12oz Bottle. Pours a honeyed amber, transparent color with a quickly dissipating head of bubbly white, although the initial appearance looks healthy for the age. Fruity aromas of honeyed apricots glazed with a sherry and honeysuckly sticky reduction. Subtle notes of vanilla and marshmellow seem to be lying beneath the oxidized vinous notes, accompanied by a fruity touch of braeburn apple minus the acidity. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Flavors are a bit thin with a smidgen of aged, herbal hops that have lost most of their bitterness. The malts have developed a bit of a muscat grapey quality, again with some sherry notes. The flavors consist mainly of sherried light fruits, which bring to mind similarities to vintage english strong ales, but not as rich. Clearly aged past its prime, but a grateful beer drinker’s experience nonetheless. Thanks for sharing, Chris!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Interesting beer. Deep amber with a quickly dissapating head. Strong malty flavor with quite a bit of alcohol in the nose. This beer has exhibits some old ale characteristics. Slightly odd hop aroma and flavor, but the hop bitterness is good. This beer has dried out quite a bit from when I purchased is 2 years ago, when it had a cloying finish. So there is hope for the Batch 5000, yet. I have had a couple but not rated yet because think it is still green and will hopefully dry out a little. Anyways the batch 4000 is a pleasant treat. If anyone is interested, I do have a couple bottles laying around...

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks go out to Styles for this one. Orangish brown in color, very murky. Aroma is rainsin or prune sweet very reminsenced of many barleywines. Other than some leafy flavors, hops have all but disappeared(from the description they probably weren’t to prevalent to begin with). Finish is lip smacking sweet.
