Pours a murky reddish brown in color. Smell is malt, and more malt. Taste is of a huge English Old Ale. Very creamy, malty, and just a hint of hops trying to hold on. The alcohol was still very present. A decent brew.

Thansk to MikeTD. Murky brown pour, small white head. Aroma is banana, dark berries, caramel, very sweet. Flavor is caramel huge, light fruits, some apple and citrus with a touch of banana. Just a huge caramel taste with a high level of bitterness. Would’ve been better fresh.

Thanks to Boboski for the bottle. Pour is a dark ruby red with just the slightest hint of a white head. Smell is sweet and has a touch of muted hops. Beer is still bitter up front that moves to malty sweetness rather abruptly. I got a bit of nutty flavor as well. Medium body and decently carbonated. This brew is still decent, but past its prime.

opaque, dark brown. tan head. Rich aroma of caramel, broken earth, fruit, and slightly floral. Flavor fully bitter with a nice balance of malt/cramel/earthen/fruit flavors. Somewhat of a barly wine from the dark side. interesting. as always, worth the wait.

bottle.....aroma: sweet caramel, brown sugar, extremely malty, dark fruits consisting mainly of raisins. not too much in terms of hops in the nose.....appearance: dark cola-like brown and barely penetrable by light. medium ivory head.....taste: doesn’t deviate much from the nose with the exception of some bitter hops coming through in the finish but not as much if i were to have tasted this fresh.....nice barleywine but better ones are to be had

Had this again on tap the day prior to GTMW and thsis was tasting lovely. sweet caramel, toffee, dark fruits with great body. really smooth and enjoyable..

Dark brown, thick creamy off white head. Intense and complex nose held notes of brandied fruitcake drizzled with vanilla, brown sugar, warm golden raisin, and touches of strawberry cream. As it warmed, softer notes of apricot, old caramel, and ripe plum play a perfect backup role. Flavor is similar with loads of musty dark fruity and caramel tones that melt into a rounding soft hoppy finish. Full bodied with a pillow soft carbonation. Years on this brew has created another fantastic Bell’s creation. Simply awesome…

Nice heat after the years. Good strong taste/flavor in the initial sip. Full strong palate of hops and some fruit.

Pours a dark red/brown color with good tan head. Aromas of caramel, hops, fruits, and malt. Same flavors with a nice alcohol burn throughout. Good barleywine!
