Tasted 11/26/07. 12oz bottle. Unfiltered and pitch black. Spotty tan head. Peppery port nose. Aromas of chocolate coffee and woody spices. Cocoa and dark berries. Slight alcohol burn in the nostrils. Full bodied with big flavors and a nice burn. Bitter malts with coffee acidity. Tight berry notes. Lingering alcohol. Cocoa and chocolate flavors. Peppery anise. Sweet and bitter. Sticky and long. The coffee roast acidity shines nicely. Touch citrus for a second. Dark cherries. Melding nicely. Touch woody earthy flavors. Oh so delicious. Great beer and aging splendidly!

Poured a oily opague black body with a thick, longlasting chestnut brown head. Strong dark chocolate aroma with hints of carmel, sweet cigar smoke, raisins, and coffee. Incredibly complex flavors. Dark bakers choclate, mild bourbon, dry oak, coriander, burnt coffee, and some citrus in the finish. Aged incredibly well!!

Poured from a 12oz bottle(thanks again Tyler!) and served in a snifter. This brew poured a deep black with a thin head of creamy, tan foam that lasted and lasted. Some very thick lacing coated the entire glass. The aroma of the beer consisted of sweet caramel and dark chocolate, molasses, and a mild cardboard note. The flavor of the beer was made up of burnt malts, dark chocolate, caramel, molasses, prunes, and also a mild alcoholic note. A light, lingering bitterness of burnt malts was left on the tounge. The mouthfeel was heavy and full-bodied. Very lush and velvety. The carbonation level was minimal. This was just an amazing experience! So many flavors going on, but never out of balance. I wish this wasn’t a one time brew. Outstanding!!!

PP Strong Ale Fest 07, bottle from JohnC, thanks again John. Pours black with a half finger light brown head. Nose is nice and sweet, very very nice. Taste is sick, amazingly robust imperial stout, Palate is thick and really killer, damn this beer is good. I liked it a lot, but BBB63 likes it more and he encountered a special vintage of this beer Strong Ale Fest Table Aged.

Bottle. Thanks, after4ever! Pours opaque black with a lacy tan head. The aroma is evident at arms length, with tons of chocolate, and caramel. Sweet, full, body, chewy with malt. Light carbonation. Bittersweet chocolate and coffee taste. The finish is espresso and cinders.

Thick dark blackness from the depths of Bell’s brewery. The malt flavors tasted as if heavily roasted or even burned. Flavors of bitter chocolate, coffee, and caramel weight heavily on the palate. This beer was a mighty triumph and testament to the excellence of U.S. craft beers. To bad it will never resurface.

Let me start off by saying how greatful I am to have had this beer. Pours a dark black with an exploding rich orangish brown head. Smell is more complex than you could imagine with hints of fruit, mollasses, brown sugar, cocoa, raisen and bourbon. An interesting sweet flavor with a very creamy palate and a bittersweet finish. Rather complex and mellow for 12% (aged for almost 3 years). It had notes of semi sweet chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, caramel, roasted malts, cocoa and brown sugar. OUTSTANDING Imp. stout !
