thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA May 16, 2006 This bottled brew from Flemdawg was interestingly enough marked number 7000! It poured a small sized head of brown colored foamy finely sized long lasting bubbles that left behind an opaque black colored body with no visible carbonation and a fair lacing. The aroma was filled with dark malt roasted malt raisin and vinous notes. The mouth feel was initially smooth with a slight tingly then moved into a strongly tingly finish. The flavor contained vinous dark malt roasted malt and coffee notes and was very yummy! zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA May 8, 2006 (bottle - 12 oz) Dark black with a thick and creamy brown head. Aroma is very strong and malty with hints of wine, licorice, port, and chocolate. Tons of flavor at the start. Malt and roasted coffee explodes on your tongue and gives way to a very wine-like but roasty malt middle and a burnt malt and coffee finish. The alcohol is definitely present and very warming. I think wow is the only thing that sums this one up. stoutlvr (52), Lansing, Michigan, USA May 8, 2006 Well, Imperials are my favorite, and this one is a damn fine example. Very dark with virtually no head at all. Slightly syrupy texture with a flavor of over-roasted coffee beans. Great Impy Stout!!! Hollywoodt (174), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Apr 26, 2006 Poured a dark brown to black. Roasted malt and some licorice in the aroma. Flavor was all that and some bitter hops. The alcohol really comes thru on this one. I liked it, but imperials are not my favorite. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Apr 14, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Via trade with Pailhead, who’s a great trader, folks!. Poured opaque brown-black with a large creamy-foamy light brown head. Rich oily roasty aroma - chocolate, hops, coffee, roast chestnuts - wonderful! Taste - roast choc/coffee malt, celery hops bitterness, molasses and a hint of cream and mint, definite alcohol (ears are warm as I type) - lovely long funky hopy/overroast malt bitter finish, really nice. Thick, slick, lightly carbonated acidic mouthfeel - terrific imperial, can these guys make a bad stout? jonwayne4883 (401), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Apr 6, 2006 one of the thickest, best tasting beers we’ve had. this one has to be savored, and don’t plan on downing more than one in a night, it is filling mynameisjonas (206), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Apr 6, 2006 very very dark beer. exceptional flavor. extremely thick. best bells beer i have had TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA Apr 3, 2006 Updated: Nov 9, 2006Wow. A slightly bigger version of Bell’s Expediton Stout if you can believe that. This beer, like Expedition, is an Imperial Stout, and it is incredible. You might get as good, but I don’t think you will find an Imperial Stout more impressive than this. This beer pours to an ink black color, with a thick, tan head that slowly fades, and a soft to moderate carbonation. The nose is jam packed with aromas of dark chocolate, yeast, pine, coffee, roast, licorice, and peppery alcohol. The palate is fat and lush on the tongue, with a rich, oily mouth feel. Huge dark malt, dark chocolate flavors, and licorice, marry with intense flavors of espresso. Batch 7000 finishes with more of those intense flavors up front, then ends with a big punch of piney hops, and peppery alcohol heat, that lingers on the tongue. Amazingly complex and flavorful, this is the ultimate sipping brew. Death by chocolate cake might be the only thing you could pair with this beer. Enjoy it for the glorious beer that it is. Relax, sip, and savor this one, and thank God Larry Bell was born.
