12-oz. Thanks, FranksnBeans! Black. Thick, surging, moussy tan head. Caramel and chocolate nose that reaches out and touches you from across the room. Thick, super creamy body. Carb is very understated. Thick caramel and bittersweet chocolate on the mid-palate, along with prunes, coffee, and maybe a bit of chalk and sour milk as it rolls over the finish. Could really stand a couple years in the cellar. Everyone should send me their spare bottles so I can make this happen.

Aroma of chocolate, coffee, malt and some hops too, deep black, tiniest cappuccino head. Very roasty malt, mocha and a helping of hops. Quite bitter, full bodied, pleasantly warmingly mouthfeel. Great! Thanks again radiomgb.

Some generous porter drinker made this beer available to sample at the weekly tasting. Thank you sir, may your cup of porter runneth over. Pours deep dark with thin dark tan head. The smell is hot as hell booze followed by caramel, roast, molasses and hints of maltiness. Wow, pretty darn hot nose burning alcohol (is it still too young?). The taste elicits another wow response to pure triple layered yumminess. I get a thick chewy velvety fudgy mouth feel that feels oh so right. Notes of blended creamy malts, chocolate, molasses and caramel have come together in velvety harmony. Holy cow. This is fudgy yummy chocolaty, rich and delicious. It gets caramel, fudge and dark roastiness into the finish.

Thanks to Ughsmash for this brew. Pours black with a brown head. Big sweet roasty fruity nose. Balanced.. no, flavorful... yes. Big rich coffee note up front, cherry and chocolate notes towards the finish with almost a bit of tartness to it. Alcohol isn’t present, palate is thick and cloying, but a solid warmer for sure. This beer is a nice cold day sipper.

Dark fruit, dark chocolate, brown sugar, caramel, soy, some alcohol warmth. Strong sweet robust aroma. Black w brown creamy head. Sweet chocolatey, soy, dark bitter roast, earth, dark over ripe fruit, booze. Full syrupy body, boozey hot finish. Soft carbonation. Wow intense. Too much for me.

Very dark. Velvety and oily mouthfeel with some weight. Zippy-snappy sourness. Bursting with complex and vibrant aromas. Rich, dark malts exude with syrup, molasses, black licorice, baker’s chocolate, and coffee left on the burner too long. Warming alcohol. Big, lasting bitterness. Very hoppy throughout, with strong grass complemented by delicate tea. Overall, I really enjoyed it. RERATE (forgot I rated this already), rating with more age to the beer: Very dark and mysterious. Deep, tightly packed tan head. Rich, inviting nose. Thick, oily, velvety texture. Chalky cocoa, rich raisins, black licorice, luscious dark chocolate, deeply roasted grains and zingy hop bitterness. Wow, this beer has some real depth and quite a bit of complexity. Warming and cozy alcohol soothed the throat. Great beer.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma is sweet. Smells of dark malts, chocolate malts, roasting, dark fruits, and a hint of liquor. Poured dark black with a small brown head. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malt, chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, alcohol, and licorice. Full body. Smooth, viscous texture. Soft carbonation. Coffee finish. Overall, very good.

Black, with a dense brown head. Really appealing smokey, coffee aroma, with some notes of maybe cinnamon and fruit in the background. Very smooth and rich - Some notes of coffee and chocolate, of course, but also some tart flavors, too - cherry, maybe? As it warms, a rich flavor come out, I’m gonna say pumpernickel bread? And some woodsy, earthy flavors, too. Really tasty. Thanks, Secret Santa!
