Sample at O-town throwdown ’09 Last sample of this amazing tasting and what a way to end it. Pours deep black with beige head and nice viscous golden lacing. Aroma lots and lots of dark fruits with a good boozy scent that dissipates together with roasted malts and chocolate. Taste, boozy boozy, this is one juggernaut beer goodness. Plenty of dark fruits, malty with touch of sweet licorice and chocolate.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with Sephiroth. Pours black with a moderate light brown head that lasted until mid-glass and left a layer of lace after each sip. Pleasant aroma of toffee, chocolate, and dates. As much as I enjoyed the aroma, the flavor is even better with lots of toffee, chocolate, dates and raisins with just a bit of coffee detected as well. The alcohol at 12% was extemely well hidden with only a trace of warmth at the swallow. Full bodied and delicious. I’m glad I got two bottles in my trade with Sephiroth!

dark black pour small tan head nice lacing. Smells of semisweet chocolate roasted malts some alcohol very rich & sweet aroma. Palate is full and well coated lightly creamy. Flavor is a big roasted malt a dry hint of semi sweet chocolate a touch velvity hints of coffee and an odd tang to the finish. Very good but would be better if it mellowed a bit w/ some age.

Nice black color, small but good tan head that had a good hang time. The aroma was chocolate, coffee and malty with a nice roasty side and a bit of alcohol coming through. The flavor was great with a good showing of chocolate and coffee some nice roastiness and a slight bitterness that makes you want more. The alcohol is a bit on the high side and is detectable unlike the others i recently had but still it is nicely done. The flavor seems to go on and on lasting on the pallate for some time.As the brew warms up some of the flavors become a little more pronounced with a stronger showing from the chocolate and a stronger bitter side.Over all a very nice brew and well worth having a few more for ageing which i have done.

bottle-ya know, i have some things to say about this beer. With all the hype that surrounds the mysterious beasts that are bells commerative batch series beers, i went into this beer with alot of enthusiasm. I had my own idea of what this beer was going to be like. There are many different elements here-part of this is derived from dark lord, some of this is what the flying dog gonzo porter was aiming to be. this beer also celebrates my first new car purchase-a 2005 honda civic si. this beer poured almost completely black minus the red tinge at the edge of the beer surface. this has a nice fizzy tan head which lasted pretty much the entire life of this beer. the head became a nice swirly looking whirlpool of stout! aggressive hoppiness in the aroma with pine, grapefruit, carmel, cherries, wood, spearament/thin mint cookie. WOW, there is alot going on here. totally unbalanced, but thats not a bad thing in this case. this is one BIG beer-so many flavors it would take a whole day to find all of them. again, this reminds me of the flying dog gonzo porter in the aroma and flavors, but definately much better. big molassas, pine, spearament, roast, char, chocolate (dark) with some interesting citric tones in the finish, which i have never had in a stout. the 12% is there with a vengence. Whoever said this is a smooth and easy drinking beer has something wrong with them! This beer has some amazing aging potenilal where all these crazy flavors will meld together into something amazing. body is huge with an alcoholic kick! I will pick up another 6er of this stuff soon!

Vicious black pour with a thick fizzy deeply tanned head. Nose was super complex and quite intense with rich notes of french roast coffee, mocha, evergreen, crème brule, grapefruit, and currants, with a light smokey undertone. A Batch 7000 Yankee candle should be contemplated. Powerful tastes that practically mirror the aroma with added notes of pan-seared toffee brittle, smoldering wood, black chocolate, berry, and earth. Motor oil thick body and slightly syrupy, medium carbonation, charred bitter finish. Congrats to Bell’s on creating this masterpiece. Thanks for the bottle Hopscotch.

The first of my Secret Santa brews. 12 oz bottle thanks to that jolly fellow. Dark Dark pour with a dark brown head that remained in ring form to the end. Aromas of dark cherry and chocolate. Flavors were outstanding chocolate, mocha, molassas, toffee, more dark fruit, and a great hop finish. A wonderful Imperial Stout.

It, unsurprisingly, looks a heck of a lot like an imperial stout. Thick, oily black body, thin brown head that swirls nicely. Yadda yadda. Nose molasses, coffee, some deep fruitiness. Flavor is espresso, brown sugar, soy sauce, and some spice. Roasty and burnt.
