Jet black with a huge, frothy chocolate brown head. Roasty, chocolate malt aroma, sweet dates, alcohol and a fair amount of smoke at the end that slightly drowns some of the subtle fruity nuances out. Crisp hoppiness to the flavor initially, citric zest battles with toasty, roasty malt. By the finish, the malt has won with its molasses and brown sugar one-two punch, but just barely, as the piney, resinous hops linger in the background. I am greatly looking forward to aging a bottle or two and seeing these flavors meld a bit more.

Dark black with a big creamy brown head. Aroma of milk chocolate and cocoa. Flavor of bitter chocolate and strong hops. Very warming with a long bitter finish.

Out of the 12 oz bottle. Dark beer with a thin, brown head that shrunk to a lasting ring. Very complex brew. Raisen, other dried fruits and hot hops in the nose. This beer tastes young, and I bet will improve for the next year or two. Very hot on the tongue. Lots of dark fruit, hair spray, caramel, orange rind, chocolate, and an almost grassy finish. Very nice beer, that will only get better.

Bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>Dough77, thanks Tim. Deep black in colour, lasting beige head, some patchy lacing and alcohol legs. The aroma was surprisingly hoppy (some pine), deep roast, chocolate, caramel and molasses, very light alcohol. The flavour had lots of chocolate malts, very deeply and dark roasted coffee beans, some sweetness, darks fruits, some vanilla. Chalky mouthfeel, medium/large body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes very long with a lingering moderate bitterness. Very good.

Let’s see... super dark with a nice tan/chocolate head. Really thick malt nose. Thick and malty flavors. Super, nice dark thick flavors -- caramel, fudge, crumble cookie. Some roasted flavors. Nice feel, good taste. Good alcohol. Nice.

Bottle at the Düsseldorf Gathering. Deep black body. Pours rather sirupy. Lightly brown, creamy head. Aroma of liquor, coffee. Nicely balanced aroma of malts. Moderately bitter, moderately sweet flavour.

The body is black with a thin and light orange head. Seemed to pour like pancake syrup. The aroma is rich with coffee and some dark chocolate. There is also some oak goodness with some sweet caramel. The taste an amazing mix of dark chocolate and coffee. There is some oak dryness and a little bit of caramel sweetness to balance it out in the finish. This tastes excellent, but I want a little less roasted character. The mouthfeel is amazingly slick and creamy. Like the consistency of good hot chocolate. This is a very well done beer. Thanks for the traded beer, OhioDad.

bottle. thanks for sharing another great one, Jeff. deep black body completely hides all light...medium-sized mocha head. aroma is consistent with the imperial stout style - creamy chocolate and roast coffee, but mostly the former. big bold body has some silky coffee and bittersweet chocolate. fairly dry throughout with a nice roasty finish. great balance. alcohol is felt but welcomed. awesome.
