AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Jun 5, 2008 Updated: Oct 28, 2009Bottle courtesy of Ucusty. Pours foggy pale orange with a decent cream colored head. The nose is quite complex, with different spices and citrus. The flavor is similar, with a subtle bitter mid and finish. There is definitely some orange peel in there as well. Nice on the palate. No hint of the 9%. An enjoyable Belgian. sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA May 31, 2008 The Da Journal #181. Tasted 5/30/08. 12oz bottle. Hazy with a golden hue. Bubbled white ring of head. Floral and honey aromas. Chalky and perfumy. Full bodied and tangy with a nice orange flavor. Nice citrus note. Solid effervescence. Creamy yet bitter. Decent palate. This is getting better. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 26, 2008 Bottle pours a yellow straw orange nectar with thin white head. Aroma is orange peel, sweet malt, wheat, and other citrus fruit. A good aroma of spicy yeast and this beer is so drinkable but i’m in this for complexity so i have to keep that inconsideration. Taverner (827), San Ramon, California, USA May 23, 2008 Updated: Oct 12, 2008Aroma is citrus, spice and Belgian Yeast. Flavor is sweet, yet balanced with bitterness. Notes of orange peel, apricot, wheat bread and banana. This could age well. Full flavored strong ale.
ON SECOND ANALYSIS: This is one beautiful beer. Nectar-like in appearance. Ages well, and mellows after a while. brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA May 23, 2008 12oz bottle. Golden lightly hazy pour with a white head. Citrus aroma (orange) with sweet malt and yeasty notes. Semi-sweet flavor with yeasty characteristics. Banana, apricot, wheat, and malty grain are all present in pleasing quantities. Round full mouth feel. A good brew but not my favorite style. craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA May 22, 2008 bottle - thanks to TBC. pours a deep orange with a one finger white head... aromas of Belgian yeast and some spices. Very soft palate... not all that dynamic on the tongue. The coriander and other spices are noticed in the mouth, but are not very aggressive. Seems like a toned down Belgian Strong Ale... the 9% abv is not noticed at all.... a solid Belgian style, but nothing spectacular. The first smell of this is sharply orange/honey. Pour a nice deep amber color. Sips very well. There’s a lot here. Some aged tastes with spice and fruit. Much less bubbly than many strong ales. Very solid. pilsnerrogge (1770), Finspång, Sweden May 19, 2008 Bottled: Unclear orange colour. Low but firm head. Yeasty aroma with notes of orange marmalade and anise-seed. More orange marmalade shows in the flavour, there’s some notes of honey as well. Alcohol is well hidden.
