ATLBeerDog (280), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 17, 2008 Updated: May 18, 2008Bottle – Pours a beautiful orange red color. Very hazy with a quickly receding white 1/8 inch head. Aroma – Smells of heavy spices, Belgium yeasts, and with some quite sour notes. First taste is fruity with grapefruit and honey dominating almost from start to finish. This very fruity beer is also very creamy. My curiosity is the best indication that this is something I like, almost to the point of looking forward to every next gulp. Very complex for a light bodied beer and a beer that is 9% ABV. Not a beer I would session with but I am putting this one away rather quickly. maltdog (509), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 11, 2008 The bottle uncaps with an explosive chuff, revealing a murky amber, riotously carbonated beer. A barmy beige head begets scant lace. Three-quarters of the aroma is hard butterscotch candies; the remainder: Crackerjacks, candied fruits, buttermilk, nail polish, and a hint of toast. An even less appetizing flavor follows… sour, spicy, milky, salty… with faint tastes of creosote and horesblanket. (BTW, I am a huge fan of well-crafted Belgian ales, of which batch 8000 is not.) A milky texture adds frictions to the extremely thin palate. The abrupt yeasty finish heralds a cloying, catty aftertaste that also features tequila and lima beans. A chaotic beer composed of conflicting elements… very articifial and amateurish… and totally disgusting. MrChopin (621), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 3, 2008 Nose has grass and banana with a little malt and possibly peppermint. Beer is opaque orange/copper with long lasting, egg white head and considerable lacing. Initial taste is strong hop and citrus, but as beer warmed more balance with sweeter malts.
BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 2, 2008 Acquired via trade from mgumby10...THANKS MIKE!!! Hazy lemon with a tint of tropical sunset, this beer adds a good amount of spice to the traditional banana and clove flavor. Coriander is evident, various levels of citrus are abundant (tangerine, orange, lemon, grapefruit), and I truly have no idea what "Paradise Seed" tastes like but I’m sure it’s good!!! The 9% is invisible. Not my favorite from this brewery but you can’t go wrong with Bell’s!!! RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Apr 30, 2008 Cloudy orange-gold with a tight white head. Big fruity nose with touches of orange zest, sugar and yeast. Flavor is big, sweet and spicy with notes of coriander, orange, and a slightly grainy malt character. Very tasty. cmillward (418), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours a ruddy hazy gold with a small off-white head which settles pretty quickly. Coriander, orange, a honey sweetness and faint whiffs of alcohol on the nose. Sharp coriander leads off the taste backed up by a sweetness of honey and slight malts and alcohol. Then the palate kind of drops out and a slightly harsh vegetal bitterness follows. Mouthfeel is a little heavy. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA Apr 15, 2008 12oz bottle. Murky orange color with a small white head. Spicy, perfumey aroma, some citrus and earthy coriander. Appley malt, sharp spiciness and citrus rind. Soft, earthy and herbal flavors then manifest. Residual spiciness in the finish, with tinges of alcohol heat and citrus. Mouthfeel is medium, somewhat smooth. walleye (876), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Apr 10, 2008 For my 800 I am doing the 8000. I had a hard time with this beer at first, didn’t think it was very good. But after drinling a case of this the last few bottle turned me around. With most of the bells beers I like to try them unshaken 1st then shake up the yeast and I usually like the shaken one, but this one I didn’t care for the yeast in my glass. aroma got the Coriander, Orange Peel, some lemon, and a hint of yeast( this is the unshaken bottle). flavor same as the aroma with a little sweetness added in
