notalush (2627), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 27, 2007 Thanks to my better half for picking this up when she was in the Midwest - murky, glowing orange beer, with a foamy, sticky lace - very spicy aroma, with notes of honey and rose water - reminds me of Indian desserts (ie. very aromatic) - soft carbonation in the mouth - apparent alcohol, but it fits the strong spice profile well - the coriander is quite prominent, but an earthy, semi-tart wheat character, bready malt flavors, and a robust, almost nutty character keep the strong spices from becoming overpowering - finish is almost milky? - a very tasty beer. Radek Kliber (3926), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Sep 27, 2007 Bottle 355 ml
Appearance :Bright lightly hazed amber with medium semi frothed top. 3+ Nose :Neat Belgian Ale aroma, yeasty , alcoholic clean touch with hint of orange peel and coriander with added honey and mellow hops.8- Flavour/Palate :
First impressions show how young this bottle is with its frontal robust carbonation. This was followed by noticeable warmth of alcohol. Drying finish. All wrapped in rich sweet, heavy malt with yeasty side to it.
goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Sep 25, 2007 Poured a very hazy amber color with a small off-white head. The aroma has some notes of spice, orange, dusty yeast and a hint of bubble gum. Citrusy wheat base. The flavor starts malty then goes to a spicy middle. The finish brings in some banana. Spicy and bitter dry finish with a medium body mtoast (290), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 25, 2007 12oz bottle. Decanted per bottle instructions, damn them, slightly hazy, very little foam, meh lacing. Aroma is strikingly similar to Oberon, with noticeable alcohol. Flavor is chock full of wheaty goodness, good bit of almost orange juice like sweetness, very little spiciness. I shall call you Double Oberon, or is it Imperial Oberon? JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Sep 25, 2007 Pours a cloudy ruddy glowing orange color with just a bit of white head floating around. Generous yeast-citrus component with the coriander filling out the aroma. Really citrusy - fresh cut orange aroma. Thick palate as a lot of the double wits are, but the carbonation level is relatively low and thus the thickness works for me. Very sweet intro, a lot of heavy yeastiness that overpowers the citric components. The finish is pretty sweet and the yeast really stays with you. Kind of muddy compared to the aroma. Will revisit. hopscotch (5440), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Sep 25, 2007 Bottle... Hazy golden ale with a small, frothy, white head. Cereal grains, light smoke, overripe banana, vanilla and clove are all components of the aroma. The flavor is sweet and yeasty up front; perfectly bittered, lightly grainy and mildly spicy on the backside with a pinch of salt. Full-bodied with a slick, oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, lightly bitter, abrasive finish. Thanks go out to dsnowden for his generosity! apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA Sep 25, 2007 A wickedly spicy brew. Similar to a farmhouse ale or a saison. It has an excellent balance of spiciness and a pleasantly honeyed sweet maltiness. Gingery aroma. It has medium carbonation. The alcohol content is obvious. Lots of herbal notes in the aroma and the flavor. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Sep 25, 2007 good wit pour, nice big frothy head. Aroma is typical wit aroma, but its more balanced, and sweet. Also im getting a good whiff of american hops. Flavour is very smooth, and balanced. Lots of spices, and some soft fruit flavour, possibly from the paradise seed? Overall i’m really enjoying this. The alcohol is extremely well hidden, this is a very smooth, and very flavourful belgian wit. I wish i could get more, and have this all the time in the summer.
