Commercial Description:
Batch 8000 is part of our commemorative series celebrating our progress with special brews. Our Batch 8000 is a special recipe to be brewed only once. It is a wheat ale spiced with Coriander, Orange Peel, and Paradise Seed. Best consumed fresh.
Editor’s Note. 9% is far above the abv range of a Belgian Wit Bier. Because we do not have the style "Imperial/Double Belgian Wit", this more closely fits as a Belgian Strong Ale.

Tried on tap. Interesting style - imperial wit. Appearance and aroma are more in keeping with a belgian strong ale, however, with stronger fruit component (coriander). Surprisingly well balanced. Would make a great transition beer (fall) into the more rich true belgian strong ales.

Pours a cloudy orange color with a small white head. Strong cloves in the aroma, along with spices, maybe banana. Great spicy, wheat taste. Tangy, fruity, sweet finish. Definitely an interesting wit.

Like a trad spicy Belgian, orange peel, grains, bitter finish. Good carbonation. Could use some maturing.

Bottle: Poured metallic orange with a brief fizzle, a thin head, and a swirl of sediment. Fresh herbal aroma, with a tad bit of spicy yeastiness. Tangy and spicy, with an orange zest flourish. Susbstantial mouthfeel, full of body. Quite nice. (#3167, 11/1/2007)

Bottle via trade with piscator34. Deep golden-amber with a lot of haze and a few little floaty bits. Big wit/saison aroma - quite yeasty and spicey, with appetising hints of orange and honey. Full mouthfeel. Flavour is like a spiced honey-wheat bread, with a really nice coriander character as well, and a pleasant lingering yeastiness in the finish. Quite nice.

Very cloudy and hazy orange color with no head. Powerfully strong orange aroma. Definitely orange peel and not the citrus blast like Cascade hops. Very slight coriander and wheat. Lots of coriander and spicy Grains of Paradise flavor. Restrained wheat and yeastiness. The coriander is heavy for me, but this is a superb brew.

Bottle and enjoyed in my Hoegaarden tumbler: Pours initially clean amber hue (2nd pour was hazy from the yeast) with a fading white frothy head, some lace.

The aroma has notes of coriander, orange zest, Bird of Paradise, clove and lemongrass spices along with wheat and biscuity malt, some caramel does show as it warms as does some phenols too.

The taste is wit on roids with lots of fruity and grainy overtones with a base layer of wheat. The finish is a tad chalky and chewy. I went into the tasting think this would not be so good but I really dug it in the end. Will go get some more methinks. Geez 109 ratings already!
