4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle shared with my room mate. I have had this one before but am just getting around to rating it now. Pours a deep brown color with a half finger width brown head that disappears quickly. When you swirl this one around the glass, it leaves a sticky residue on the sides. The aroma consists of tart fruit and some caramel malt... very interesting but strange for an imperial stout. The taste is absolutely fantastic though... roasted malt, some very light chocolate, and an awesome aftertaste consisting of tart cherries and flowers. It has a medium bodied mouth feel and finishes very smooth. It masks the alcohol very well. This is definitely a strange brew but I love it when a brewer tries something different... especially with a popular style like an imperial stout. Definitely a home run in my books... way to go, Bells!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Michigan Winter Beer Festival - 22-Feb-2014. Near black. Big and boozy. Very malty and complex. It’s definitely rounded out a bit with age. Quite smooth for such a big beer.

It poured a clear dark brown color with a beige head. The aroma was of raisins, dried fruits, caramel, coffee and alcohol with a hint of vanilla. The taste was sweet maltiness, coffee, alcohol and molasses. The backbone was of raisins, caramel, vanilla and alcohol. Very well done.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours very dark with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, boozy bourbon, caramel and licorice. Taste has a slight cherry to it, along with the bourbon, licorice and malt. Pretty carbonated which enhances its nice aroma as well. Great beer!

Vertical tasting provided by alexsdad06, 8000, 9000, 10000, and goes to 11. Bottle pours dark brown ruby. Nose some soy sauce, molasses, some stone fruit. Taste very sweet, some soy sauce. Trying to get some roast and molasses from underlying beer. Probably much better fresh.

I know what people are saying about this beer so I thought I would pull one from the cellar. i’m here to say fuck all you people. Nose is coconut, molasses, licorice, sweet fruits, plums, raisins, spicey, fruity. Flavor is fruity, strong molasses, sticky sugars, licorice, bready malts, sweet sticky caramels, light roast. Sweet flavor and sweet finish. This beer can still go longer. No oxidaton and it is what it is. Great beer. This a little more like an old ale or barley wine than an imperial stout but hey.
