Looks like a pilsener, tastes like a good pilsener. Fresh and crisp and mild, with a little spice from the hops. A good beer for an american pilsener fan.

This lager was adequate. My wife loved it, but she doesn’t have a BA account and I do. It poured a pale yellow with a bit of white head, absolutely average in appreance. It smelled a little skunky and also had a sharp scent that reminded my of hay burning. The taste was very similar to the scent, the hops a bit sharper and biting. It reminded me of Heinekin. My wife loves Heini so I offered her some expecting her to go crazy over this. As expected, she loved it. The mouthfeel was a bit awkward on this one, made my tongue feel a little heavy and dry after everything was swallowed down. Perfectly pleasant while in the mouth, but not so much after swallowed. Definately drinkable. I compared it to Henekin, but it’s a little better than Henekin. If my wife didn’t dig on it so much, I doubt I’d be buying it again. I wouldn’t turn it down if it was offered to me, but I wouldn’t seek it out either Serving type: bottle

It seems like many American craft brewers that make solid ales have difficulty making a clean and crisp pilsner/lager. So, it was with some trepidation I tried Bell’s Lager, but it was a $3 pint at Roman’s Pub, so the price was right and that was enough for me. And I was pleasantly surprised - a solid, clean, and crisp lager that was perfect for a warm spring evening. This beer was a straw color and while clear was not brilliant. Head was abundant. Aroma was clean, lightly malty with some hop evidence. Flavor was predominantly malty and light, with solid pilsner credentials a bit fainter but similar to European lagers. Light, refreshing mouthfeel and drinkable. I’d recommend this beer.

12 oz. bottle from John’s Grocery (Iowa City, IA) labeled as "Lager of the Lakes". Pours a a brilliant transparent golden color with a very small head that quickly dissipates. Aromas of light malts, grains, corn. Initial taste is grassy, earthy, and smooth. A light malt character that leaves the brew largely refreshing and a thirst quencher. A well carbonated beer that finishes a little bitter. A decent pilsener for what its worth and, hopefully, a beer that gets macro lovers through the doors in order to get them on to some of Bell’s other wonderful offerings. Not dissappointing, but ’it is what it is’.

Bought as Bell’s Lager of the Lakes. Pours a very nice golden color. The initial taste is very good but I think it has a very bitter aftertaste that does not taste good at all. Would not buy this beer myself

12 oz. bottle via trade with tytoanderso - Pours a clear golden color with a one finger thick white head. Light lacing. Aroma is herbal hops and light grain. Flavor is spicey hops and grain malt. Medium body. A pretty good beer. Thanks Tyler.

I found this beer pretty disappointing. It says its a lager and then its a pilsner. Pours gold with an unimpressive head. Smells like hay and corn, tastes metallic and a little fishy as the rater below said. Maybe it was a bad batch because i expect better quality beer from Bells.

12 oz. Bottle. "Lager of the lakes". Ultra pale color with a medium foamy white head. Not much in the way of aroma, detected some noble hops and a bit of pale malt. Flavor is crisp with subtle malt flavor and grassy hop character. Mouthfeel is fizzy as the beer is highly carbonated. Finish is quick and somewhat dry. Basically this tastes like a slightly upgraded version of a mass produced American lager.
