3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light amber brown color with a nice head that prevails over time and light stagnant lacing. Aroma is mainly hoppy, but slightly musky with a touch of malt in the end of the nose. Flavor is spicy with a light nutty malt presence, mainly hoppy in this brown though. Not quite to style, but you get the idea. Thanks ClarkVV

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nice mahogany, with a very thin white head that left me wanting more. Some sparce and spotty lacing. Floral hops come out in the nose. Accompanying that are some sweet malts. Flavors are about the same, but now the hops have an additional citrus to them. Lemons mostly. Smooth palate, medium body and a pleasingly bitter finish. Nice brown ale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
First beer poured in my Beer Summit "Kick Back with your Allies" glass.
Pours a nice brown color with a nice head, mith a miniscule lacing.
Smells like a Brown. Mostly malt, with some hop hints.
Tastes like good Brown. This isn't my favorite style, but it's a damn fine example of the style. Malt, with some raisen hints, maybe some cherries.
Overall this is is a good representation of the style, and one of the better Browns I've tasted.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown colour with ruby highlights and a dense large-bubbled light brown head. Aroma of malt, nuttiness and an odd-off scented cheesy aroma! Medium to Full-bodied; Strong nuttiness mixed with some spices combined with a large malt backbone. Aftertaste left spicey and a bit nutty. Overall, a decent beer-but i'm not one for this style! I got this twelve ounce bottle purchased by my mom from Merchant's in Dearborn, Michigan and sampled it on 21-November-2003.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear, medium reddish-brown with a thick and full tan head that holds well. Rich, malty aroma with a fair amount of spiciness from the use of Belgian malts, as well as some faint nuttiness, roasted malt, and celery salt. Creamy and reasonably full on the palate, it starts out with a flowery hop bite, then settles to a smooth maltiness, along with some rounded spiciness, pale chocolate, dry nuttiness and a hint of roasted malt. Lethargic carbonation aids in it’s easy going drinkability. Lengthy, slightly dry finish. The late-2003 bottles from the new brewery have much less yeast sediment than before, so adding the dregs doesn’t turn it into the muddy mess it once did. Overall, a session-worthy brown ale that Bell’s should turn into a year-round brew.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2003 Medium dark amber/brown. Very slightly cloudy with a small off white head. Huge toffee and malt aroma. Light medium palate with a decent amount of carbonation. Flavor is filled with caramel, toffee and malt. There are hints of roast, nuts and hops. This is an excellent brown ale. Very drinkable.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The beer pours a foggy burnished copper color with the head dinosauric in size, creamy in consistency and a beauteous light tan in color, as it unhurriedly evaporates the lace forms a thick and glutinous sheet upon the glass. Sweet malt with a hint of walnuts, crisp and clean nose, with the start nicely malted and somewhat sweet, top is moderate in its feel to the palate. Finish is stern in its acidity; hops are pleasing and spicy, slightly tart and dry aftertaste, quite tasty, and my thanks to feloniousmonk for this bottle.
