A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Pours a deep brown color with a white head, smells of chocolate, malts and nuts. Taste is very similar, hops are not present at all. Very good beer

Bottle into nonic pint. Pours a nice caramel brown, creamy head with slight lacing. Roasty aroma with hints of nuts, chocolate, and coffe. Taste is the same. Not bad. Expected more of a hop bite from the description.

Not a fan of the aroma. Some coffee, woody, earthy and something else I canít put my finger on. Nice pour. I like the brown, hazy appearance - more to my expectation in a good brown. Minimal tan head with moderate lacing. This beer has a smoke and oak flavors that is nice. Medium bitterness at end. A medium bodied beer, with typical carbonation. Not a bad brown at all. The aroma holds this one back for me.

I was lured into purchasing a 12 pack of this because of an alluring price ($15) and the gorgeous new packaging and label. You see they still have the great horned owl, but now itís fall, not winter. The owl sits on a tree limb in a forest of autumnal orange splendor. This artwork was very appealing to me, thus the purchase. The beer itself is very good. Malty with a hint if bitterness. Dry mouthfeel. Pretty satisfying.

Draft at RFD. Pours clear tawny brown with a creamy light beige head and some decent lacing. Aroma is toasted and bready malts, mixed nuts, light toffee, dates, and light woody notes. Flavor is dry malts, light sweetness, light floral hops, and some subtle nut notes. Dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

The aroma of this brew is light but hints of caramel malts (without much else) comes through, but the appearance is a gorgeous cloudy orangeish brown color with a small off-white head. The taste is mildly umami, slightly sour, and slightly sweet; furthermore, the palate combines a long malty finish, medium body, slick texture, and a soft carbonation.

Pours out into a copper color with very small tan head. Aroma is that of a malty coffee. Light hoppy taste with a quick dry after taste. Excellent beer brewed in Michigan, would defentely buy again!
