A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Bottle. Pours a somewhat hazy brown color with small beige head. Sweet aroma hinting at caramel malt. Flavor is sweet with predominantly caramel malt notes but also some chocolate. Slight bit of bitterness barely detectable in the finish. Medium bodied. Damn good for a brown ale.

12oz. bottle. Bottled 09/07/2016. Pours a medium, well retained, light beige head, over a very slightly hazy, copper (SRM 17) body.....nose is toasted/roasted malts, with light toffee/caramel, cocoa, mild fruit tones from the hops......taste is dry, with light toffee/caramel notes, light cocoa, finishing with light pine, resin, bitterness......mouth feel, light body, no alcohol, high carbonation. The malt backbone in both aroma and flavor is a bit on the light and simple end of the spectrum for the style. It is an easy drinking beer, but a bit more caramel/crystal malt might improve. Bellís Best Brown does for me what a lot of Brown Ales donít. Itís true to its English roots yet distinctly American. Brown/darkened amber coloring topped with a thick layer of tan foam. Rich, malty nose. Flavors start of with caramel and chocolate notes then finish with a spicy hop character. The toasted notes seem deeper than the light roasted quality of many Browns, and the feel is heartier too. Many American representations of this style tend to fall into a lighter viscosity. While Bellís Best Brown canít quite be described as full-bodied itís a notch past medium. This Autumn brew is easy-drinking but not at all boring.

Can. Clear amber brown with a large, foamy, tan head that lasts and laces. Aromas of toasted malt, caramel, light nuts, toffee, and pine. Flavor is toasted malt, caramel, toffee, light nuts, pine, and coco. Light bodied, smooth with a dry, toasty end.

Best Brown Ale has a thick, creamy, bone-colored head, and a tan or light-brown, turbid appearance, with a few lacing strings left behind. The aroma is of somewhat spicy, brown bread crust and nut oil. Taste is of sweet, slightly spicy, brown bread crust, tea, a touch of chocolate, and some low-to-medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium, and Best Brown Ale finishes medium dry. RJT

Pours brown...maybe a touch of ruby. About half finger khaki head. Okay retention, fair lacing. The beer is pretty, just wish it had better head on it.

Aroma is mild. Nutty, sweet, medium roasted malts. I smell pecans and hazelnuts.

Taste is nutty and smooth. Again, pecans and hazelnuts. Smooth, creamy. Just a touch of bitterness that might be pecan shell. There might be some caramel, very light cocoa.

Mouthfeel is medium body. Creamy, smooth. Finishes with light and lingering bitterness.

Overall, this is outstanding. Good all the way around. I absolutely recommend this, and I cant wait to have another one!

Bottle - Pours a dark amber to medium brown, white head. Smells of sweet malt, caramel, toffee, and a hint of fruit. Flavors of a sweet malty base, a mild syrup, toffee, and a sort of skunk water to this particular one... mild hops finish.
