COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Very smooth brown ale. Execellent for drinking by the fireplace. Good taste, nice color, and clean finish.

Outdoors, mid 40s temps, poured into a frosted mug. Small fire going. This beer is excellent for the situation described. Deep flavors with a superb hoppy finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of my favorite brown ales. Not too thin, well balanced - not overly sweet or overly hoppy like many brown ales can be. An excellent beer in a style that is all too rarely done well.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Modern Times pint glass From: Barons Market in Alpine, Calif. Price: $1.89 Purchased: Oct. 22, 2014 Consumed: Oct. 22, 2014 Misc.: Bottled on Aug. 14, 2014 with a shelf life of six months Poured a brownish, caramel, hazy color with two fingers of frothy, khaki tan head. Below average foamy spotty lacing on the sides of the glass. Average-to-below average retention. (Sight - 3.88) Smelled a pleasant whiff of hops up front, which was a bit surprising. Mainly floral hops, but some light non-descript Citra in there as well. Then came the malts - hazel, caramel, toffee, Rolos, Heath Bar, chocolate, roasted honey nuts and light butterscotch. Very nice on the nose. (Smell - 4.13) Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. Got toffee, hazel, caramel, roasty nuts, toast, honey nuts, light black coffee malts, espresso, light chocolate and light floral hops. (Taste - 3.75) Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Slightly bitter, abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.75) The smell was the best part and I had high hopes, but it was nothing that special. (Overall - 3.75) 3.83 86 B+

Poured from bottle to pub glass. Pours rich brown. Nice thick head that goes away rather soon. Light sweet taste. Almost creamy on the palate. Overall is a great beer. Has some awesome malt flavor. A great brown beer.

Bottle from Whole Foods Market, Bowery, New York, NY. A chestnut brown coloured pour with a thin off white/beige head on top. Sweet, malty, caramel aroma. Tastes similar, slightly sweet, malty, caramel, nutty.

One of my favorite brown ales. Strong all the way around. Very balanced beer and the taste is very good. Especially in the fall.

A defining solid American Brown Ale. It looks brown. It tastes brown, with that maltiness that elicits something like cookies while not being overly sweet. It’s easy to drink, a touch bitter, flavorful but not over the top. It doesn’t reach the highs of a Maduro variant but it’s nearly as good as that base beer, and that’s good enough for me.

355ml bottle. Bottled 08/29/14. Pours a deep caramel/brown with a thin, khaki head. Aroma has notes of chocolate, coffee, caramel, bread, and slight hops. Taste is balanced. Notes of toasted bread and caramel to start then roasted malts in the middle and hints of chocolate and coffee on the end. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a smooth texture and dry finish. Overall a really easy drinking brown. More roasty than caramel but balanced very well.

Deep amber to brown pour with half inch beige head. Roasty, bready malt aroma, brown sugar, campfire and dough, some chocolate. Light carbonation, frothy mouthfeel, nice effervescent finish, very refreshing. Malty taste, sweeter carmel and dough, overall graininess blends everything together but subtle, roasty campfire taste toward the finish, a bit rooty.
