A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Brown, strong lacing, but minimal head. Tastes like roasted almond. Lingering bitter. Medium body.

Poured from a can that they were selling dirt cheap 4pks at the store today. Extremely foamy when I poured into a glass. Dark amber to mahagony hue with tan/vanilla colored head, once it went down. Smells a bit stale but still pick up some nut, caramel and coffee tones. Weird type of bitterness on the finish, almost acidic. Not the greatest brown ale, probably not the freshest either.

Bottle. Sweet caramel malt aroma with nutty and some cocoa. Pours caramel brown colored with a thin white head with good retention and lacing. Starts with excellent caramel sweetness and good nutty flavors. Finishes smooth with good hop flavors to balance the malt and a bit of cocoa. Excellent brown!

A full flavored brown that plays up spicy yeast notes alongside its earthy maltiness. Big caramel malt is in the forefront with hints of smokiness and cocoa throughout. A nice hefty mouthfeel gives this one enough brawn to keep up with tough red meat dishes. A truly great brown.

How have I not had this before? Very solid brown ale. Nutty and caramel malt, very low hopping, comes across as rich without being thick.

Pours up a dark brown, with a nice lasting off white head, and good lacing. Aroma is malt, caramel, and some spice. Flavor is the same malty caramel. Thick, rich and creamy mouth feel. There is just a hint of hops. Well balanced brown ale. Very good.
