2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured into a glass mug.
Appearance: Pours dirty rusty brown with about one finger of off white head that diminishes quickly.
Aroma: Very faint smells of malt and nut.
Taste: Tastes like a good example of an average brown ale. It’s malty, and sweet, with a small hop note on the end.
Palate: Medium body, pretty average mouth feel really.
Overall: Bell’s Best Brown Ale is not Bell’s best beer. As far as brown ales go I’d rather have an Dogfish Indian Brown Ale, or Rogue Hazelnut. Not a bad beer though, I’ve had many that were much more mediocre.

nice velvet almost creamy brew that holds the flavor of tree bark and sweet caramel adulterated slightly with the broom. warming and smooth the beer becomes intense for a second and some hop emerges. foamy character adds to the pleasantries, the beer is a bit dense and therefore fuller. caramel and perhaps cocoa in the sweetness. satisfying , beery and lingering.

Can pour from Wally’s. Aroma is sweet caramel, with some dark fruits and yeasty. Appearance is clear dark brown mahogany without sparkle with two-finger width light brown head that diminishes to ring with decent lacing. Taste is sweet toasted malt with caramel. Palate is medium bodied with creamy texture, average carbonation with late lively zing to the tip of the tongue and sweet caramel finish. Overall, true to style but borders on unfinished side.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle@home, from Wine Spot, Cleveland, USA. Light/medium aroma of sweeter malts, bit vanilla and a hint of caramel, still bit sour. Deep brown/red color with medium/small light beige head and hazy liquid. Medium balanced taste with malts and caramel, some syrup ans a hint of vanilla. Medium taste spectrum and medium soft aftertaste with a bit roasted malts. Light/medium body with light carbonation. Overall, good high quality flavors, although could be more punch both in flavor and body. This would be nice to see in 8.5% class.
