COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

This is the only beer Iíve had that was cask conditioned. I had it at the Berkley Front. If you are ever in the Detroit area, check out this and two other hand pulled beers as well as 48 more on tap on 12 mi near Woodward.

One word: phenolic. Do you like the taste of Band-Aids in your beer? I donít. Címon Bellís you can do much better than this. Re-rate: Iíve upped the numbers a bit because I think this bottle was just off, because Iíve had this before and it wasnít as bad as this one. Iíll get another bottle later and adjust the numbers accordingly then.

12 ounce bottle, poured out an unremarkable translucent brown with a moderate head. Aroma was earth and leaves/grasses. Taste followed suit with a slightly IPA finish. Not bad, but unremarkable.

12 oz bottle. Poured a cloudy and dark chestnut brown. Smell was quite nutty and malty but a little funky. Taste was pleasant, bitter, and nutty. Finish was strong and nutty but a little bitter. Disappointing for a Bells.

12 oz bottle. Medium brown with a thick white head. Aroma of caramel, very sweet. Sweet malt to start with a nutty finish. Well balanced.

Bottle poured into pint glass. True to itís name, this is a dark brown beer with a paper-thin light brown head that dissipates very quickly. Aroma is rich caramel and chocolate. The taste follows the nose, though it seems a bit less rich than the scent. Smooth, ever-so-slightly creamy feel. I would have hoped for a bit more taste, but otherwise a pretty decent brew.

found this hiding in Waynes Deli in Muskegon, while i was home, it was rich and bitter and rather malty, the "best" quality of it was the nutty flavor that was running around in the beer, i think the word best should be taken out of the title, it was ok but not the best

Copper, quite clear, tan-straw creamy head. Malty aroma, caramel and sweet. Mostly dry, a little sweetness. Some bitterness.

A small, rich aroma and a murky brown appearance with a tiny head. A nice dry taste and solid hop finish. A good beer.

Pours a cloudy brown. Hopefully bottle conditioned as some others have commented. A finger deep tan head that quickly disappears. Some lacing left on the glass. Caramel and butterscotch ore present on the tongue but I also notice a slight metallic flavor. Nice mouth feel. I would like to try a fresher sample of this.
