COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Bottle from Archer Liquors. Deep ruby amber color with a large frothy beige head. Aroma of roughly roasted caramel. Near medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is malt, light citrus, and some light treacle? It’s extremely tasty, and reminds of a lighter Belgian ale. Finishes more dry than not.

Bottle from Schroppfy, thanks! Brown color. malt, caramel and mint in the aroma. Malty flavor with caramel, licorice and mint. Just a bit thin. Sweetish, but with enough flavors to compensate. Pleasant brown ale.

A reddish brown ale with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice peaty caramel malt with dark fruits and light licorice, coffee, very nice. In mouth, a nice woody caramel with vinous notes, coffee, musty notes, light grassy hops, veering on old ale.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2003 RBSG2003 (extended) (On tap at the brewery) Crystal clear, deep amber ale. Small, off-white, creamy head. Partially retaining with good lacing. The nose is of caramel, butterscotch, toffee... everything MALT! The flavor is ridiculously rich, buttery and malty... with balance. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, semi-sweet, buttery finish. Reminiscent of Lake Tahoe Red and European Zebra Lager (which is no longer brewed).

Bonus bottle from lampeno420...damn good brown. Nice hazy brown pour. Aroma is full of caramel, bread, roasted nuts and a hint of hops. Flavor is sweet and quite full. Nuts, toffee, malt, and some bready notes. Great example of the style!
