4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a beautiful stained walnut color with a dense two and a half finger khaki head. When held to the light it has a tinge of ruby and a bit of unfiltered haze. Leaves behind plenty of sticky lacing.
The scent is of bread and caramel with a bit of fruity yeast. Spiced pear maybe?
Taste is of malt, caramel and toast with just a bit of hop bitterness. Beer is moderately sweet from beginning to end but not in any cloying way.
Beer is full bodied and slick with average carbonation. The finish is a bit abrupt but there is some astringency left behind. Not in an unpleasant way though.
Overall this is a truly exceptional example of a brown ale and one of my favorite beers.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
16 oz can. I've had this several times before but never rated it somehow. The pour is a definite reddish brown, thin, with a decently thick very light tan head and some good lace. The aroma is a little metallic for some reason, but I've picked this up on many browns. A light caramel is present and a decent roast is present. The flavor is more roasty malt and light caramel. That's about all that's there. The mouth feel is pretty surprisingly decent. Moderate thickness and a carbonation that is a bit light but much more body than I was expecting. The aftertaste isn't bad. Quick and lightly malty but quick.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Excellent. The aroma is lots of malty brand flaky goodness, but the taste is off the hook! Taste is of rich malt flavors: brand flakes, cereal, toasted malt and brown sugar. Finish is probably the best part with a smooth, soft, and yet full body mouth feel. This is a bench mark for other brown ales. Good luck ladies and gents...

12oz bottle. Pours a somewhat hazy brown color with small beige head. Sweet aroma hinting at caramel malt. Flavor is sweet with predominantly caramel malt notes but also some chocolate. Slight bit of bitterness barely detectable in the finish. Medium bodied. Damn good for a brown ale.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass.
Aroma- this brown ale has malt and a sweet sugary aroma.
Appearance- Uhhmm, a brown ale with an average white head.
Taste- Big malt flavor with caramel tossed in.
Palate- A light bodied ale with moderate carbonation.
Overall- this is an average ale for me, Bell’s is usually killing every beer style they try but this was average to me.
