bp (275), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 23, 2007 Bottle (Batch 8156): Uh, it’s brown with a thin white head, malty aroma and maybe some chocolate, flavor is malty but not a lot else going on that I can pick up, not a bad brown but not the best I have had.
NomDeBeer (129), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 15, 2008 Dry, sort of chalky taste and mouthfeel. Certainly not a bad beer, it’s completely drinkable, but pretty boring. nqualls (113), Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2008 Poured a hazy brown with very little head. Aroma is of nuts and malt. Flavor was nutty. Good beer. Nothing to write home about though. kosko20 (73), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Jul 26, 2008 Bottle pour, aroma is nutty and malty. Appearance: Dark red brown with a thick tan head. Flavor is toasty and malty but not much to it. Good mouthfeel, smooth and a really good amount of carbonation (not too much, not too little). Overall a good beer, but nothing spectacular. timsilvia32 (183), born in Michigan, North Carolina, USA Jul 12, 2008 Descent brown pour, light head. Some roasted nut, malt and slight toffee. It is smooth, but a little boring. Good mouth feel, enough carbonation. Pretty dry finish, well balanced. Actually not one of my favorite Bell’s, they usually strive for a little different. esjaygee (721), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 7, 2008 Cloudy reddish brown with a slowly dissipating lacy beige head. Nutty aroma mixed in with some sweet and toasted malts, caramel and toffee. Taste of caramel, nuts, roasted malts with some mild hops on the finish Body is smooth, creamy and thick and balanced. Best Brown Ale is a fitting name since it’s one of the best Brown Ales I’ve had.
