Not a fan of the aroma. Some coffee, woody, earthy and something else I canít put my finger on. Nice pour. I like the brown, hazy appearance - more to my expectation in a good brown. Minimal tan head with moderate lacing. This beer has a smoke and oak flavors that is nice. Medium bitterness at end. A medium bodied beer, with typical carbonation. Not a bad brown at all. The aroma holds this one back for me.

Pours a lovely amber brown with a creamy white colored head. Has a nice subtle aroma of molasses and roasted malt. Has a very easy going taste of brown sugar. Leaves a some what sweet after taste.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a cloudy nut brown with a thick but quickly disappearing head. Mild cocoa and some berry. Hopping is mild, a little bit of a metallic aftertaste. Ok. Not as good as other Bell's brews.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours brown with a off white head. Taste Carmel, chocolate, sweet. I thought this was so so. I would skip this down the road.

An good example of a nice Brown ale. Not necessarily my thing but since its Bells, I had to try it. I was not disappointed.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark burnt caramel. Pretty rich head, rich lace. Metallicy aroma with light nutty carmel notes, slight chocolate. I was never much a fan of this before but now am giving it a whirl again. Still a no go really. Odd aroma. Something just not comforting in taste for a brown ale,carbonation/hops-not shure exactly. I like most Bells stuff but this may be the worst for me.Seems average or below to me,maybe even off.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from BrookFalls Discount. Pours a tannish brown with a lot of effervesence and a bit of a white head. Almost no lacing. Aroma has sweet malts, some nuts and brown sugar. Taste is of sweet caramel, some fruitiness, nuts, somewhat toast and sweet brown sugar. Medium bodied and - despite the pour - lowly carbonated. Finishes mostly sweet, a bit cloyingly so. Scotch ale-ish.

Brown pour with a small off-white head. Nutty/biscuit malt aroma. Flavor is similar. Very malty but not super heavy so itís still easy to drink. Crisp, refreshing finish. A classic example of the style.
