COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Dark and malty, tad bitter. Not my bag. Has a nutty finish. Nice aroma, though.

A very nice brown ale. Nice reddish-brown color and sweet aroma. If I had to pick out something wrong, I'd say that the taste is just a bit too sweet.

Dark apple cider brown color. No head. Smells sweet, rich, slight bitterness to the taste. Smooth and tangy? Lot of carbonation. Nice flavor and full body, lots of sediment. Slight bitterness in the back of the throat.

A very clear brown color. Kathy did say she noticed blueberry in the aroma, and I agree. I think there may have been a hint of hazelnut in the taste. It was almost too crisp for me, but overall this is a good, solid brown.

Pours brown. Nose is hops and toasted nuts. The taste is very smooth, rich, nutty, malty... odd and interesting at the same time.

On tap at Bells. Poured a small tan head that completely diminished, good lacing, fine-small sized bubbles, uncarbonated, transparent, and an orange brown hue. The aroma was malty, very mild hops and caramel. Sweet, malty and caramel flavor. Smooth palate. Light-medium body.

pours a copperish color w/ a small quickly dissapating off white head. A fair hop aroma w/ a bit of carmel malt and a nice nut/wood scent. Palate is a bit acidic w/ some nice carbonation and a pretty solid coating for a brown ale. Light nut/carmel/hop in the flavor w/ a floral finish fairly light. Overall the beer was a solid brown ale but paled in comparison to the big Imperial stout i had in front of it.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2011 Rerate. Draft. Deep amber, approach brown body. Thick, frothy, off-white head, slowly diminishing. Malty aroma with notes of nuts, caramel, bread and a hint of roastiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter, a bitterness that lingers into the aftertaste. Thin to medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Thin body doesn’t play well with the malty tastes. Standard fare.

Interesting choice for an autunm beer from Bell’s. Belgian styled brown ale with generous heap of alcohol builds an agreeable cold weather beer. Nice beer to have after a tobbagan run in Kalamazoo.

12 oz bottle. Pours a medium hazy brown with small head. Some flavor of malty goodness, but not enough. Some caramel too. Hoppy in the aftertaste. Not alot going on here.
