COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Bottle from BrookFalls Discount. Pours a tannish brown with a lot of effervesence and a bit of a white head. Almost no lacing. Aroma has sweet malts, some nuts and brown sugar. Taste is of sweet caramel, some fruitiness, nuts, somewhat toast and sweet brown sugar. Medium bodied and - despite the pour - lowly carbonated. Finishes mostly sweet, a bit cloyingly so. Scotch ale-ish.

Rcvd in trade: it pours slightly brown and leaves a tan colored body and leaves a one finger off-white head. It leaves some nice spotty lacing and no carbonation is seen rising. The aroma has a fair amount of toffee up front with some nice subtle flavorings of nuts as well as some chocolates and caramels. The flavoring is basically the same with more of the maltiness coming out as the beer warms. Its pretty easy on the palate for the most part or at least as any English Brown ale can be; overall, this is a very nice English Brown that I recommend and would definitely have again.

Pours a cloudy brown with a smallish head. Roasted malts with chocolates notes and some balanced bitterness. One of the best brown ales around.

Aroma: intense bread and light caramel malts. Appearance: clear brown, small white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: sweets intensify, dry, light toasted malts. Overall: quite a syrupy aroma for this OK Brown Ale. Pint at The Ginger Man, Manhattan.

16 oz can. I've had this several times before but never rated it somehow. The pour is a definite reddish brown, thin, with a decently thick very light tan head and some good lace. The aroma is a little metallic for some reason, but I've picked this up on many browns. A light caramel is present and a decent roast is present. The flavor is more roasty malt and light caramel. That's about all that's there. The mouth feel is pretty surprisingly decent. Moderate thickness and a carbonation that is a bit light but much more body than I was expecting. The aftertaste isn't bad. Quick and lightly malty but quick. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a rich copper color with a slight sweet malt aroma. Taste is clean, smooth, easy drinking. Flavors of light caramel, toast, a bready aftertaste that lingers on the palate. A minimal bitter aftertaste, felt I had to really concentrate to discern it.

Nice and drinkable. From a can. Not overly nutty which is just great for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled. I tend to fing Browns kinda of boring. This one had a little more flavor going for it than you usual brown. Nothing fancy. Good drinkable beer.
