A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2003 RBSG2003 (extended) (On tap at the brewery) Crystal clear, deep amber ale. Small, off-white, creamy head. Partially retaining with good lacing. The nose is of caramel, butterscotch, toffee... everything MALT! The flavor is ridiculously rich, buttery and malty... with balance. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, semi-sweet, buttery finish. Reminiscent of Lake Tahoe Red and European Zebra Lager (which is no longer brewed).

12oz bottle. Murky brown color. Rich and creamy brown ale. Very well balanced, a perfect mix of the sweet nutty brown malt/yeast and mild hoppy flavors. Real depth of flavor. Great beer.

One of my favorites and easy to find around here. If you like ales, please do yourself a favor and try this one. Slightly bitter, but very balanced, almost sweet finish.

Pours a rich brown with a cream colored silky head. Aroma smells of chocolate. Nice balance of smokey chocolate malts and subtle bitterness. Dry finish without being sour with the aftertaste. Good example of a brown.

One of the best Brown Ales I have ever tasted. No surprise with the title then. Smooth Carmel, deep calm, pleasant tone, warm body. Hard to drink just one.

Bellís Best Brown does for me what a lot of Brown Ales donít. Itís true to its English roots yet distinctly American. Brown/darkened amber coloring topped with a thick layer of tan foam. Rich, malty nose. Flavors start of with caramel and chocolate notes then finish with a spicy hop character. The toasted notes seem deeper than the light roasted quality of many Browns, and the feel is heartier too. Many American representations of this style tend to fall into a lighter viscosity. While Bellís Best Brown canít quite be described as full-bodied itís a notch past medium. This Autumn brew is easy-drinking but not at all boring.

Pours a nice dark brown with red hues. Aroma of roasted malts, toffee, and caramel. Tatse is very well balanced of roasted malt, nuts, toffee, cocoa and caramel, offset perfectly with hops. Great brown ale.

12 Oz. Bottle poured. Reddish brown with a nice tan head. I could smell the fruit and caramel while I poured. Nice solid taste of plum with a hint of chocolate. Nice smooth aftertaste. Great fall beer.

Poured from bottle to pub glass. Pours rich brown. Nice thick head that goes away rather soon. Light sweet taste. Almost creamy on the palate. Overall is a great beer. Has some awesome malt flavor. A great brown beer.

One of my favorite brown ales. Not too thin, well balanced - not overly sweet or overly hoppy like many brown ales can be. An excellent beer in a style that is all too rarely done well.
