4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 4, 2003 RBSG2003 (extended)
(On tap at the brewery)
Crystal clear, deep amber ale. Small, off-white, creamy head. Partially retaining with good lacing.
The nose is of caramel, butterscotch, toffee... everything MALT!
The flavor is ridiculously rich, buttery and malty... with balance. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, semi-sweet, buttery finish. Reminiscent of Lake Tahoe Red and European Zebra Lager (which is no longer brewed).

12oz bottle. Murky brown color. Rich and creamy brown ale. Very well balanced, a perfect mix of the sweet nutty brown malt/yeast and mild hoppy flavors. Real depth of flavor. Great beer.

One of my favorites and easy to find around here. If you like ales, please do yourself a favor and try this one. Slightly bitter, but very balanced, almost sweet finish.

Pours a rich brown with a cream colored silky head. Aroma smells of chocolate. Nice balance of smokey chocolate malts and subtle bitterness. Dry finish without being sour with the aftertaste. Good example of a brown.

One of the best Brown Ales I have ever tasted. No surprise with the title then. Smooth Carmel, deep calm, pleasant tone, warm body. Hard to drink just one.

Two words, Damn Good. Great while watching a football game or watching the leaves fall. An Autumn classic.

Soft in the mouth like Boyne River, but not as full in flavor.

The pour is a dark amber with a soft head. The first thing that hit my nose was the intense nutty smell. It has a sweet musty undertone as well, as if it were aged in a cellar. The body is perfect. Each sip taken is better than the previous. There is a definite roasted malt taste. Drinking Bells Best Brown Ale was a great experience.

That’s a great beer! Pours a chocolate brown with a tan head, lots of floaties (as one would expect from this brewery). Aroma is like chocolate cake batter, which kicks ass. Flavor is tangy malts, sweet roasted nuts, a moment of hop spice, and a grasyy, bitter, dry finish that is EXCELLENT. Highly underrated, in my opinion!

Dark reddish in color. Nice head. Smooooth. Such a wonderful beer. I wish all beers were like this.
