3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a medium dark reddish brown with a finger sized tan head. Nose is malt with a whiff of hops. Nice and creamy on the palate, the taste buds are greeted by sweet molasses and honey on top of a malt backbone. Gentle hint of hops on the finish but very smooth, slightly sweet. A good session beer. Pairs well with chili and oyster crackers.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a beautiful stained walnut color with a dense two and a half finger khaki head. When held to the light it has a tinge of ruby and a bit of unfiltered haze. Leaves behind plenty of sticky lacing.
The scent is of bread and caramel with a bit of fruity yeast. Spiced pear maybe?
Taste is of malt, caramel and toast with just a bit of hop bitterness. Beer is moderately sweet from beginning to end but not in any cloying way.
Beer is full bodied and slick with average carbonation. The finish is a bit abrupt but there is some astringency left behind. Not in an unpleasant way though.
Overall this is a truly exceptional example of a brown ale and one of my favorite beers.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
suprised to see such a high rating. could have been an older bottle that I had- didnít seem to have much life left. Pours a translucent brown with a thin white quickly disappating head. taste is malt with some interest on the finish with a hit of hops- website says "generous use of hops" but does not list actual ibuís. the light color sort of threw me off- expected there to be a bit more to it. does make sense of the commercial description though- could pair with a cool fall evening or work on a warm summer evening. definitely not heavy, just not quite enough to it. maybe a bit wimpy?

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of the better brown ales I have had, has the malt, but also the hop, perfectly balanced IMO. Great from start to finish.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy chestnut brown color with a light tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, carmel, nuts, and chocolate. Taste follows the nose. Malt forward, nutty, hints of chocolate, with a slight mild hop bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: APR 22, 2013 Dark Hazy Red with a 2 finger head. Smell has notes of caramel, floral hops, roasted malts and chocolate. The flavor has some mild caramel, rum raisin, chocolate and roasted malt notes. Body is moderate yet thick and the carbonation is somewhat mild as well. Itís a unique beer but it could use some more flavor.

Pours ambr with a beige head. Can catch both a mild sweetness and bitterness in the nose, which continues into the mouth and the swallow. Pretty consistent and smooth with a pleasant crisp finish. I like Brown ales and this is a nice one.

This is one of the better brown ales I have had. I guess the name is pretty fitting. Reddish brown pour. Full head. Nutty aroma. Slight bitterness in the finish. Good all around.
