Aroma of alcohol and malt. Pours a deep ruby brown. Flavor is pretty good. Sweet malts, fairly well balanced, majority of the body is substantial. Maybe even a little nutty. Finish is only thing really lacking, but not bad. Its a tad dry and watery, but overall I’d say its a pretty good beer. Very drinkable.

Oct 10, 2008 Sampled @ Blacklick tasting 10-2-08: I don’t know why I don’t buy this one more often. This is a great fall beer. Pours an amber to dark-brown with a small creamy white head. Flavor is malty and nutty with still a relatively impressive hop profile in the back end. Very "round" finish. Drinkability is off the charts!

Oct 7, 2008 My 150th rating :) In an effort to try all the bells beer before the year is out, I bought this as part of my pick six for the week. This pours a heavy brownish/red and has a lighter brown head. It’s aroma is subtle, with hints of chocolate, and licorice. The flavor is also subtle, but has notes of raisin, and a malty finish. It’s a smooth drinkable beer, with no "wow" factor, but I wouldnt complain if it were served at a party. Cheers!

Oct 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aroma of chocolate and malt. Flavor was well balanced with chocolate, bite of hops, and slight coffee undertones.

Sep 25, 2008 Bottle at Jerry’s. Dark brown with good, creamy tan head / Nose of roast barley and chocolate / Medium body, chewy, some acidity, and with balanced malts and hops and good finish / Flavors of roast barley, semi-sweet chocolate, nuts, and brown sugar / A good, solid brown ale.

Sep 23, 2008 12 oz bottle-pours a light tan head and copper color. Aroma is medium/dark malt-molasses/caramel, nutty, secondary earthy hops. Taste is medium/dark malt-molasses/caramel/chocolate, nutty, secondary earthy hops with some bitterness. OK carbonation.
