Bottle Poured into glass. Red brown pour with a healthy khaki head that sticks around. Nose is typical brown ale with caramel, toffee, and hazelnut up front. Really smooth and creamy body. Hazelnut Taste with some caramel sweetness and a mild roasted malt bitter finish. Pretty nice.

Brown ales aren’t my favorite but this one is very easy to drink. A very balanced "fall time" beer.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Johnsense (467) - - JUN 1, 2013
Amber pour with a thumbs worth of offwhite head that left gobs of lacing down the glass. Toasted malt in the nose, as well as some hops. Taste is much better - Bitter hops balanced out with toasted malt, caramel, nuts, bready aftertaste. Medium body. Very easy drinking.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 darthmoore (8) - Michigan, USA - MAY 8, 2013 does not count
Pours a beautiful stained walnut color with a dense two and a half finger khaki head. When held to the light it has a tinge of ruby and a bit of unfiltered haze. Leaves behind plenty of sticky lacing.
The scent is of bread and caramel with a bit of fruity yeast. Spiced pear maybe?
Taste is of malt, caramel and toast with just a bit of hop bitterness. Beer is moderately sweet from beginning to end but not in any cloying way.
Beer is full bodied and slick with average carbonation. The finish is a bit abrupt but there is some astringency left behind. Not in an unpleasant way though.
Overall this is a truly exceptional example of a brown ale and one of my favorite beers.
Cheers!

suprised to see such a high rating. could have been an older bottle that I had- didn’t seem to have much life left. Pours a translucent brown with a thin white quickly disappating head. taste is malt with some interest on the finish with a hit of hops- website says "generous use of hops" but does not list actual ibu’s. the light color sort of threw me off- expected there to be a bit more to it. does make sense of the commercial description though- could pair with a cool fall evening or work on a warm summer evening. definitely not heavy, just not quite enough to it. maybe a bit wimpy?
