For a brown ale this beer is very well done. It has lots of flavors as most browns do. Caramelly and nutty, with a bitter finish. It tastes parts of a pale ale to me, a little bit.

Wow this may rival Dogfish Head for the best brown ale I have had. Different monster though, this is much lighter and goes down easier. Alot sweeter and smoother but is clearly a Bells product with the aftertaste. Might want to stick to bottles though, I bet on tap it comes across as too smoothed out.

Deep brown, thick creamy tan head. Rich toasted milk chocolate malt aromas lay on soft wafts of peanut and caramel. Earth and chocolate toast flavors round to a well balanced lightly bitter finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, malty finish. A great session brew without a doubt as this literally could be the best brown I have ever tried…

Sampled @ Blacklick tasting 10-2-08: I don’t know why I don’t buy this one more often. This is a great fall beer. Pours an amber to dark-brown with a small creamy white head. Flavor is malty and nutty with still a relatively impressive hop profile in the back end. Very "round" finish. Drinkability is off the charts!

My 150th rating :) In an effort to try all the bells beer before the year is out, I bought this as part of my pick six for the week. This pours a heavy brownish/red and has a lighter brown head. It’s aroma is subtle, with hints of chocolate, and licorice. The flavor is also subtle, but has notes of raisin, and a malty finish. It’s a smooth drinkable beer, with no "wow" factor, but I wouldnt complain if it were served at a party. Cheers!

Bottle. Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aroma of chocolate and malt. Flavor was well balanced with chocolate, bite of hops, and slight coffee undertones.
