750 ml. bottle. Very excited to try this one. It pours a very thick black color with a small, disappearing brown head. The aroma has extremely nutty bourbon with caramel, cocoa, wood, toast and hints of vanilla. The flavor is superb with just the right balance of sweetness and attenuation. Big bourbon influence, wonderful dry, spicy barrel notes. Sweet without being cloying or syrupy. Chocolaty, caramel, nuts, spicy wood, campfire smoke. Pretty easy to drink despite the heaviness. This is awesome stuff. Just about perfect for the style.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Good, but not extraordinary. Very black with a lovely caramel color head. Brew-by-numbers in its aroma and flavor--vanilla, cream, chocolate, bourbon...it’s all there. But it doesn’t leap out of the glass. Smooth and decent, but the sausage was better. (on tap at New Bohmeia, MInneapolis)

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ New Bohemian. Black color with a small head. Light malt aroma. Even after warming, not really anything. Taste is quite alcoholic. Rummy and some molasses. Dry malt towards the end.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at New Bohemia tap takeover. Not what I was expecting. It was good but not AMAZING, as was expected. Overall its a great stout but it doesnt bring a whole lot to the table. It has a creamier Expedition stout taste. Almost no barrel flavor profile.

Sample FOBAB ’12 - First pour of the day, as I had not yet had the fortune of trying this brew - pour was nearly black with a deep tan head. Aroma was heavy on the chocolate and some boozy accents. Flavor was very good - dark chocolate, bourbon, dark fruit, sweet cream. Palate was impeccable - full and silky. Long finish - this one actually exceeded my expectations!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours dark brown/black with a medium mocha head. Aroma has notable bourbon...not hot...some dark fruits and nice dark chocolate. Flavor has plenty of bourbon...very lt booze...lots of dark chocolate and hints of coffee and dark fruits...fairly straightforward with the flavors but very rich and smooth. Mouthfeel is medium/full and creamy with a warming bourbon/dark chocolate finish.

Growler thanks to maltomeal. Dark black with a small head. Huge chocolate malty with hints of barrel. Taste is very rich with chocolate, barrel, cocoa. Alcohol is present but not overbearing. Silky smooth body. Delicious.
