UPDATED: APR 2, 2012 On tap at Mr. Beerys Sarasota. Thanks Mark! Aroma is perfect, bourbon, chocolate, roasted malts. Opens up more as it warms up. Taste is phenomenal, more than expected and perfectly matched to the aroma. Mouthfeel is lighter than expected, but works out. Canít say enough about the beer, surpassed my expectations.

Bottle: pours deep black with a nice thick tan head. Aromas are bourbon, booze and fruit. Taste is a wonderful balance of dark fruit and booze with some chocolate. This is balanced wonderfully and I love the great bourbon finish. Amazing example of a bourbon stout. Love it.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks DSG. Bottled 12/28/12. Pours opaque black with a small brown head, aroma of chocolate, bourbon, wood, coconut, vanilla, toffee and coffee, flavor of chocolate, bourbon, wood, vanilla, toffee and coffee, full bodied. Great.

2014 bottle at Four Roses Cafe, Plainview Michigan. Black with quickly dissipating foam. Aroma is nice blend of bourbon and dark malt with neither being overwhelming or astringent. Taste is creamy to begin with, bourbon blending in nicely, bit of licorice tang, mild vanilla, bitter finish; beautiful. Unlike many imperial stouts this one doesnít jump around trying to impress, but is both interesting and so well crafted. Delicious. Abv is extremely well hidden. Finish is slightly bitter with some subtle but distinct bourbon barrel character. Gold. Overall, perhaps my favorite beer now - could drink a few of these mainly cause it is neither astringent or over the top with bourbon. Great times!

Pours black with a tan head into a snifter. No light comes through, even when held up to the sun. Iím outside and am still assaulted by the aroma of bourbon, faint roasted malts, and chocolate, even though the glass is two feet away from me. Taste is of strong bourbon, some bittersweet chocolate, and some coffee. Very well balanced. Bourbon is powerful, but not overly so. Delicious. Smooth an silky on the mouth. Overall, this is one of the best beers Iíve tried. Been looking for it forever, and finally found it. As good as BCBS, maybe better.

Iíve wanted to try this for years - I finally found it on local shelves. The appearance is an oily black with a lasting beige meringue head. No light passes through the glass when backlit, and appears still. The aroma is sweet bourbon booziness with slight chocolate bitterness, and a hint of freshly ground coffee beans. Taste - intense bourbon with notes of dark roasted coffee upfront, quickly fading to a freshly cut moist cigar on the back with lingering bourbon bite combined with the bite of bourbon left on the tongue. Palate - Viscosity of lowfat milk and smaller-sized CO2 bubbles make for a silky mouthfeel. Overall, an outstanding blend - I look forward to aging several of these. Doubtless this beer ages very well. 2014 Vintage

2014 release. Pours a thick, oily dark brown, leaving a short-lived rich brown head. Aroma is outstanding, with sweet vanilla, light bourbon, earthy wood, dark fruit, and semi-sweet chocolate. Taste is creamy with chocolate, butterscotch, rich caramel up front. The sweetness is balanced with a more bitter chocolate in the middle, drying out with some resin, into slight alcohol warming, leaving a mellow cocoa toffee molasses aftertaste. This is really, really smooth. I have to do a side by side of this and Bourbon County Stout. From what I can recall, this is mellower, with just a bit less in-your-face flavor and richness, sacrificing that slightly to gain an unreal drinkability. I could have 4 of these in a row, and I canít say that about Goose Islandís. Coffee is almost nowhere, replaced with a sweeter lactose flavors instead. More on my side of the spectrum in that regard. It could get cloying on the 2nd or 3rd bottle, but this beer is too expensive and rare to test that theory. Balanced, mellow, drinkable. This bottle is less than a month old. Any points Iíve docked could very well be erased with aging. Weíll see!

On tap at Parlor City during a Bellís tap takeover. Holy crap is this good! You get the best of both Expedition and Double Cream.

This beer has eluded me for quite some time. Thank god ericteusink comes in to save the day. Bourbon and vanilla here are really nice. Plum and vanilla aromas. Flavor is smooth creamy and rich. Vanilla and chocolate malt all overthr palate. Age and barrel and beer come together so well here. All other barrel beers take note.

Pours a rich dark brown almost black. Aroma is bourbon, boozy, dark sugary fruit, and chocolate. Tatse is epic, very bold with bourbon and sweet dark fruits. This is an excellent brew.
