COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Note blends the complex aromatics of Expedition Stout with the velvety smooth texture of Double Cream Stout. The combination is aged in freshly retired oak bourbon barrels for months. The result is a malty harmony of dark chocolate, espresso and dried fruit notes, all buoyed by the warmth and fragrance of the bourbon barrel. Aimed squarely at the stout aficionados, Black Note makes a grand statement about the art of the dark.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2014 On tap at eccentric cafe. Dark black pour into snifter, half inch of beige head that settled quickly. Malty scent, brown sugar and molasses. Thick mouth feel with little carbonation. Very sweet malty, mature flavor: maple syrup, molasses, dark fruits and brown sugar. Finish is sour and a bit bitter, mouth was a little tingly. Very nice. April 2014 update: enjoyed 2/28/12 bottle. Super rich, super boozy aroma. Powdery, corn-y bourbon aroma, powdery Carmel is strong. Very low carbonation, somewhat thin mouthfeel, numbs the tongue on finish very slightly. Supremely rich flavor, heavy on the Carmel and molasses, dark fruits and rich dark chocolate or cocoa. Amazingly smooth and well blended compared to other BBA stouts.

Bottle thanks to Homer. Pours black , tiny tan head. Aroma is bourbon, chocolate, oak, yummy. Taste is really light, atleast for a 11% beer. Light bodied, which I wasnít expecting. Get the bourbon warmth in my throat at the end. Really nice beer.

Amazing beer. Thanks to joedevivre. Black as night pour. Nose and taste were incredibly balanced. Creamy and slightly chewy mouthfeel that worked so well. Espresso, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon. So much complexity as it warmed.

Tried a 2012 and 2014 side by side. Not that much different, preferred the 2012, seemed rounder and better balanced. A thick and creamy-feeling stout. I thought there was a dominant vanilla character here, too much in my opinion. Very smooth, pretty sweet. Enjoyable, very good.

Black pour with a thin head. Huge sweet aroma. Lots of whiskey on the nose. Medium mouth. Taste is sweet. Cocoa, espresso, roast and lots of chocolate. Incredibly easy to drink for the ABV. Alcohol is super hidden.

Oaky and bourbon nose from the start right into a full chocolatey, malty, slight vanilla taste with an almost molasses mouthfeel, excellent!

Hints of chocolate, slightly of bourbon. Poured dark with good carbonation, taste was very complex, chewy, smooth. One of the best beers i have ever had to drink.

12oz bottle pour. Strong aromas of coffee and chocolate. Pours a silky black. Palate is incredibly smooth, almost to its own detriment, could use with a stronger back end to balance the heavy flavor. Taste is incredible. Rich, medium bitterness. Very nice. Would love to try on tap. Reminds me of KBS.

Pours jet, almost oily black with a very thin beige head. Great lacing and a huge nose. Oakey bourbon is front and center. As soon as you smell this beer you know itís special. You taste it and it delivers. Sweet roasted malts, dark chocolate and bourbon are unapologetic as they coat your palette with every sip. This is a great beer. Iíll have to trade for more next year.

Draft. Pitch black body with a thick tan head. Aroma of bourbon, molasses, dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, roasted malts. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Full body, velvety texture, moderate carbonation. Rich and full of flavor. Charred malts and dark, bitter espresso balance the taste of sweet mocha and sugared milk. Bourbon on the side with some light peppery alcohol notes. What a great blend.
