COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Note blends the complex aromatics of Expedition Stout with the velvety smooth texture of Double Cream Stout. The combination is aged in freshly retired oak bourbon barrels for months. The result is a malty harmony of dark chocolate, espresso and dried fruit notes, all buoyed by the warmth and fragrance of the bourbon barrel. Aimed squarely at the stout aficionados, Black Note makes a grand statement about the art of the dark.

Stouts and Porters II. Thanks to Bruce for this whale. Opaque dark brown beer, short lived tan head. Palate is slightly viscous and smooth with fine minerally carbonation. Rich dark chocolate and a little aniseed. Super light coffee, but this beer really is about the dark chocolate. Finishes smooth. Pretty good, light on it’s toes.

Black color. Impressive aroma, with chocolate, Bourbon vanilla, cookies, roasted malt. Strong body, the mouthfeel is quite oily; strong chocolate flavor, sweet, with light vanilla and evident roasted malts too; the final actually has more roasted malts, which I don’t like too much. Strong bitterness. An excellent beer anyway, well balanced.

Bottle @ Papsø. Thanks Kim. Pours black with a small bubbly brown head. Nose is deep and vinous. Extremely complex. Hard roast, oak, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Low carbonation. Very smooth and full bodied. Taste is sweet and roasted. Quite rough with a lot of oakyness, alcohol and some hops in the end.
