On tap at Bells on All Stouts Day. Aroma has a hazy distant smell of bourbon but is lost in the flavor. This is one of the reasons barrel aging isn’t for all beers. It just muddies up an otherwise good stout.

Sampler pour on tap at All Stouts Day 2012 (Kalamazoo, MI). This is for the Nitro rate but I had the firkin too. Pours a rich hazy blackoish hue, some brownish edges, cascading nitro head is thick and filmy, laces well and sticks around in typical nitro fashion. Aromas are lush and creamy, gentle barrel, vanilla and oak, wet spirit, gentle heat, creamy vanilla, cream, and roast. Caramel, silky fluffy sweetness and gentle fluffy elements. Vanilla, cocoa, and gentle milk chocolate. Barrel, touch of coolness into the middle with Bourbon, gentle oak, some roasty and toasty elements, caramel and toffee. Silky nitro feel makes it fluffy and quite drinkable. Gentle pretzel, toast, and biscuits. Really fun and fluffy, yet not sweet. Good barrel flavor melds into a fluffy nitro feel. Gentle yet inviting, too drinkable.

Firkin pour consumed at all stouts day... Pours a solid silky deep black hue and topped with a creamy thick and full medium khaki head that is fairly long living and slow to dissipate... Aroma of smooth vanilla and light roast and cocoa with a subtle barrel influence... Flavors are more of the same with smooth semi-sweet with the aforementioned notes of soft bourbon , vanilla, chocolate, and light bitter roast. Creamy mouthfeel throughout with a modicum of carbonation.

On cask at Eccentric Cafe. Pours a black body with a finger-width, frothy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a bubbly lacing. Aroma is pretty woody with a good amount of bourbon, some chocolate, a light roast, and touches of vanilla. Flavor is similar. Bourbon up front with some wood and vanilla before a smooth chocolate comes in. A few dark fruit notes and more roasts towards the end before this finishes woody, lightly roasted, and full of rich chocolate and bourbon. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a light carbonation. Overall, a nice beer to have on cask. Richer chocolates and a nice roast backing with a good amount of wood and a nice bourbon. Good one.
